Th last little while has been an exercise in frustration.....I made the deal on the new JBL cabinet last night and told the seller I'd e-transfer the money right away to guarantee that I was serious and he wouldn't sell it out from under me. I made a trip to the bank to deposit the funds from my bass/case sale, and when I got back, started the e-transfer. It should have been a piece of cake....I used to pay my rent by e-transfer at my former address. Unfortunately, I was having a brain-fart day (a little gift courtesy of the time change) and made an error doing the e-transfer....The way Facebook Marketplace is laid out, the columns of text are fairly narrow. Shouldn't matter, but, in order to make sure I put all the correct information into my bank account to register the seller as a new contact, I copied-cut-and pasted all the info from Messenger into the bank forms..... But.....The text columns on Facebook are so narrow that it dropped the last letter of the email address onto a second line, which I didn't get. That meant that the email address I used for the e-transfer was invalid. The bank took the amount of the e-transfer out of my account, but without a valid email address for the new contact, the money was in limbo....Couldn't get the funds back, couldn't figure out (at that time) why it wasn't working, and as a result, I dicked around for hours trying to get the money to the seller. Eventually, I had to tell him that I'd be at the bank at opening to straighten it out. So, I was at the bank as soon as they opened, and they managed to cancel the bad transaction. I came home, opened my bank account on the computer, and tried to correct the email address so I could complete the transaction. The computer refused to allow me to correct the mistake, and also refused to let me add the same person as a new contact with the correct email address. Called the bank, they showed me how to delete the payee so I could put in the correct information. Tried to do the transfer again, but I guess the bank's system found something suspicious about the fact that I'd tried so many times, and it locked me out of my account. I eventually got my account unlocked by going to the bank, but by the time the e-transfer was done, it was noon and I'd wasted half a day. A comedy of errors...Keystone Cops banking, lol. Anyway, it's done, but a word to the wise - Don't ever make an e-transfer banking error, or you'll spend hours fixing it.... Glad you sorted it out in the end but I'm surprised that you paid in advance without inspecting/ testing the gear. I wouldn't do that but that's just me

Glad you sorted it out in the end but I'm surprised that you paid in advance without inspecting/ testing the gear. I wouldn't do that but that's just me I'm normally a bit more cautious, but I felt like I had to commit because there were other people looking at too. The seller said this in his ad: "Vintage 70s bass cab made in Victoria. 1x15 8ohms. Not used in a couple years, but worked well before. Welcome to bring a head unit if you want to try it. Some wear and tear, but mostly good shape." I got the impression that he was being honest about it, and the fact that he invited a prospective buyer to bring equipment to test it before they take it was reassuring to me. I'll throw a bass and My Twin Reverb head into the car when I go and will check it before I leave with it. My only point of concern was something I read online that suggested that a speaker that old would bear checking to make sure the spider and surround weren't going to disintegrate. Seemed like good advice, so I'll test it before I leave. I've always had a real respect for Sound Source equipment over the years....Their cabinet workmanship has always been exemplary and they've tended to use very high quality drivers and their stuff had a reputation for being bulletproof in gigging bands.

Gonna finish assembling the BBQ and then I’ll wash the cars. Yesterday never got warm and I only assembled the cart portion of the grill and then my hands got too cold.
Edit: finished assembling the grill and brought all the cardboard packaging to the recycling center. On the way back, I picked up some ground veal for tonight’s hamburgers. Finally, I washed the Tucson and the Fusion and even had time to give the Tucson a quick waxing. Cars look nice ….I think I’ve just jinxed myself and I should expect some snow.

I'm doing computer wars again....For a couple of weeks, I've been getting these cryptic little white banners in the bottom left corner of the screen that say "Your computer is off-line" and then a few minutes later "Your computer service is restored". I've been trying all day to diagnose this with the help of the guys over on the computer forum, performing all these weird processes that I don't understand.

Going to visit my BIL in the nursing home today. I picked up a 10 foot cable for his tablet as his current one is too short. Filled up the spare propane tank this morning and tried lighting up the new grill. It looks so clean and shiny….it’s a shame that I have to dirty it.

In addition they've had me doing a Command Prompt IPCONFIG/ALL for both the service online and service offline, and the latest suggestion is that the IP leasetime is set wrong and needs to be adjusted. This is way above my paygrade and I wish I could afford to just turn it over to a computer tech who understands this stuff. I'm pretty much baffled at this point....I actually figured out how to call up the IP leasetime, but I have no idea how to adjust it. I'm almost at the stage of thinking I may need a new computer again.

I have a feeling people are going to bail soon Have they named a replacement yet? I’ve had really good bosses leave and listened to many people talk about jumping ship but I’ve always stuck it out until I got a feel for the new guy. Only once did we have a problem with a new manager and when the rumblings got to the owners ears, he called a couple of us senior level employees to ask us what was going on. The guy was gone within a month and nobody bailed during that guys tenure.

He's not a bad guy, but he's also the same rank as the rest of the team (a step down from the current boss). More concerning to many is he won't even be full time on the program, which demonstrates a lack of commitment in the program itself. Personally, I'm going to go on vacation next week and figure it out when I get back! I'm pretty sure I will have to change roles in 2Q but I'm not going to fret for now

The day's been a series of ups and downs. First thing this morning I had a response to my ad advertising my PA for sale. I talked to the guy and he made arrangements to come by tomorrow. Then, he called a bit later and asked if it has bluetooth. (I didn't realize when I bought it that there was a Series 1 with no bluetooth and a Series 2 that added it) When he found out it doesn't have bluetooth, he started waffling. He said he'll probably be by tomorrow but will call if he's not coming, so the deal's looking a little shaky right now. Some good news.....My oldest daughter called to talk last night and today she unblocked me and added me back to her Facebook friends. One other bit of news that cheered me up - The tracking number on my Hofner guitar says it just cleared customs in Toronto, so I'm more optimistic that I'll get it sooner than it was promised. However, I've discovered that it's coming by UPS and I'm a bit afraid because I know just how roughly they treat their parcels.

Off up to see my son and family this morning. Only about 60 miles away, but travel on the motorway around Birmingham can be slow at times.

Take photos of any damage to the packaging, no matter how minor it may seem. That way you have something to show them in case the guitar is damaged.

Not doing much today. Icing my shoulder this morning as the pain kept waking me up all night every time I moved. The physiotherapy really didn’t help and now I’m getting ready for golf season and I don’t think it’s going to be much fun.
Last night I took out my Zoom R8, 8 channel recorder and mixed down one of the tunes I recorded about a year ago. It made me feel like getting my act together and recording some new stuff. We’ll see how I feel

The day just took a nosedive. We just received a text this morning that our nieces son was stabbed 3 times and his friend was stabbed 4 times last night when a group of kids confronted them in a nearby park and demanded his friends running shoes. The two them both collect limited edition running shoes that can be worth hundreds of dollars and they usually sell them on eBay for a tidy profit.
Anyway, they demanded his friends shoes and when he refused to give them up they attacked him and one of the guys stabbed him with a pocket knife. When our nephew stepped in to help his buddy, he was stabbed in the upper chest. They both went to the hospital and although the buddy was treated and released, our nephew had to spend the night and needs to have some more X-rays and tests this morning as one of the wounds may have punctured his lung. My SIL just called us and filled us in with the story. Nephew seems to think that one of the thugs goes to his school so I’m sure they’ll be looking at class photos.
This f**king world is just going to hell. Our niece didn’t need this on her mind now. As some of you may recall from previous posts, her son spent a month in the hospital last summer after exercising himself almost to the point of damaging his heart. The doctors wouldnt let him go home until his heart rate stayed above 40 bpm for 24 hours straight and they got his blood pressure up to safe levels. We ended up taking all his weightlifting equipment to our house until the doctors told him that he was able to resume his workouts (at a reduced level). He’s been fine ever since. Then this shit happens.
Hopefully there’s no puncture in his lung. 🙏🙏🙏

Sorry to hear about your niece's son, Rob. If there's any justice in this world, the cops will catch the piece of shit with the knife who stabbed him and make him do serious time for this sort of violence.
So far, my day's been going according to plan. My buddy and I drove to Victoria this morning and picked up the Sound Source cabinet I bought. The box tested out well and sounds good. Surprisingly, for a fifty year old cabinet, it's in really good shape, and if it wasn't for the weight factor, I'd be tempted to just leave it be and use it as-is.
Waiting now to hear from my prospective PA buyer, although he's a bit later calling than I expected. Hoping that deal's still going to fly. The good news, as far as my new guitar goes, is that CanPar appears to be the carrier now that it's cleared customs. I've generally found them to be reliable and better at handling people's stuff respectfully, as opposed to UPS, which seems to have a reputation for abusing freight.
Heading out tonight to try out with a guitar player and drummer to see if we've got a band in the making.

Just last week a kid in town here got 7 years for stabbing and killing another kid a couple of years ago. Should have been 20 yrs minimum for such a heinous crime. Like I said, the world is going to hell.

Well today was a mixed bag. In trying to get my lunch and dinner ready before the gig while packing one car for the gig and the other for the trip, I was obviously overwhelmed.
I arrived to the gig realizing that I left my head Amp at home. As you can imagine I might as well not have been there. By some stroke of luck the drummer showed up unexpectedly (?) so the fog wasn't as thin sounding as I would have feared. It was so embarrassing it was mortifying but the venue liked the horns and drums.
Drove down to Virginia without incident, but when I got here I realized I'd forgotten my jacket and numerous other things at home. Looks like I will be going shopping tomorrow...
