Many eons ago, I started a thread on Gibson-Talk, asking what the daily weather was like where people lived. Seemed to be popular for a while. Not sure if it'll work here, as it is, CURRENTLY, a bit quiet, but you never know.
Anyway as I mentioned elsewhere, I live in a place called Brackley, which is a market town in South Northamptonshire, England, on the borders with Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. 19 miles from Oxford and 22 miles from Northampton.
For those that haven't a clue where any of those places are, assuming you have heard of London, Brackley is just over 70 miles North West away from our capital. That's walking distance compared to those in the US.
Right back to the weather:
I'm still lounging round in my dressing gown, so haven't been out, but peering through the window next to my desk, it looks very gloomy. The sky is very gray, which is a surprise as it was blue yesterday.
The weather app on my phone says there's light cloud and light winds, so they haven't got that right. Temperature has gone up a bit to 10 Centigrade. I had better convert that to 'real money' so it's 49 Fahrenheit. Rain expected later, so it's luck I cut my small lawn yesterday.
So if you can pull yourselves away from the 'gripping' TV news that seems to be on 36 hours a day, at least over here, tell us what it's like where you live.
Here's the Doomsday entry for the town where I live. Apparently it had a recorded population of 36.3 households in 1086, putting it in the largest 20% of settlements recorded in Domesday, and is listed under 2 owners in Domesday Book.

1086 ? that's 20 years after my ancestor crossed the English Channel with William the Conquerer as his Standard Bearer.
here in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area we've been having record setting temperatures. our temps have been reaching into the 70*sF. Friday, we broke a record that had stood since 1893. we got to 75*F. today, we have partly cloudy skies and some wind gusts. our high temp should reach 70*+. at the moment, according to my phone, we're at 71*.

I live in Wasilla Alaska which is roughly 40 miles outside Anchorage. Right now we are experiencing snow and freezing rain. Lately we have been having temps well below normal for this time of year with lows at night going below zero and teens during the day. This week it has warmed back up into the 30’s so it started snowing with the temperature going above freezing at times making things really messy. It will probably stay this way until January and then the extreme cold arrives. Last year in January and February we had a 3 week span that never went above zero....ever.

Just outside Toronto it is unseasonably warm and we have been setting temperature records for a few days now. Apparently the warm spell is to continue into the middle of next week. I'm having my snow tires put on this Thursday, which pretty much guarantees that the weather will stay warm for a while.

I'm in Plymouth, Massholechusetts, it's the result of the 1st Brexit .. Oh yea we also had Metacomet (King Philip was his English name) head on a pike for 20 years after he was betrayed and murdered. Today is 74F 20degree more than the normal. I was born here in MA, but grew up in Maine. I've lived in New Hampshire, Florida, Maryland, Kansas, and Texas.

I spent 3 weeks working in Boston, back in the 90s. Great city. I went on a Whale sightseeing trip while there and just saw a couple of dolphins

Still 54 today with grey skies and low thick clouds. There is supposed to be a breeze, but it seems fine.
Apologise for any typos as been to hospital toe have my eyes looked at and they put 3 lots of drops in both, so vision out of left eye is very iffy. It was an appointment I should have had back in Feb, but some blooming pandemic scuppered that. Anyway, been told I have the start of cataracts in both eyes and macula damage in my left. Cataract removal is relatively easy op as wife had hers done about 10 years ago. Not sure about the macula. I have to have another appointment.
The damage was initially caused by being hit in the left eye with a football, when I was about 9 or 10, so it's lasted a while!!
Joys of being old.

Currently 63 and mainly sunny in Hamilton Ontario. I’ve been playing golf in shorts and golf shirts for the last week as until today the temps have been hovering around 70. Playing again tomorrow in Niagara Falls but it’s only gonna about 50 and sunny. After that, it may be time to put the clubs away for a few months.

It's gonna be sunny with a high of 49 today. Going out later this morning for what might be my last round of golf for the year. After wearing shorts and a short sleeve golf shirt to play over the last week, I'm gonna have to bundle up today!

Heavy rain first thing, now blue skies. Temp is currently 51 and expected to stay there most of the day.
Hope rain keeps off as I got a cracked windscreen in my van yesterday. Didn't see anything hit it, it just made a noise and then a 8-10 inch crack appeared just in my field of view. Just been out to look in daylight and the crack appears to be inside the laminated glass. Anyway it's covered by insurance, apart from an excess of £115. Waiting for people to call and make an appointment to change it. No rush.

Currently overcast and 41F. Supposed to become partly sunny and 48 by this afternoon. Hoping to get out to rake some leaves and mow the lawn.
John it’s funny how a tiny stone chip that’s barely noticeable can turn into a major windshield replacement. A few years ago, my son had a very tiny stone chip near the drivers side front pillar. While washing his car on a warm sunny day I sprayed the windshield with water and watch in horror as the stone chip became a crack and moved right across the bottom of the glass to the passenger side until I heard it go “pop”. It all happened in a matter of seconds.

View Attachmentdo you have a fireplace ? you'll have plenty firewood for next year. I say next year because right now it would be too green to burn in your fireplace.
glad it didn't hit your house, Rob.
