I noticed on Facebook Marketplace, there's a guy in Victoria selling guitar picks made from woolly mammoth tusk for 40.00. First of all, what proof does he have that it’s woolly mammoth and secondly if it actually is woolly mammoth, is that legal?

LOL, well, there's several pictures in the ad, and one of them looks like chunks of an ancient tusk. I think what you're buying is a real cool story to tell your friends
Of course, it probably helps to look at the tusk.....
while you listen to Fleetwood Mac......

Metal works for some stuff.
i don't like the copper one as it is thin & floppy--btu it was a gift, and hey--cool.
The aluminum ones I like on acoustic guitars. I like he sound on my 12 string if it isn't mic'd or otherwise amplified--then it sounds real tinny. (No pun intended)
But some people love them.
The ceramic isn't my cup of tea, but it does give a crisp tone, I find.

This has been an interesting thread to read. These days I use a pick with a medium range of flexibility. The problem I’ve always had, and still do is the pick spinning or turning while I’m playing. I don’t know, maybe its poor technique, not sure but I’m always on the lookout for a pick that helps out with this problem. Back in my metal playing days i used a pretty rigid pick, claytons mostly and really didn’t have any of the issues I have now. I’ve been using various Dunlop nylon picks. After reading this thread and having time on my hands I did a little research and found “Dunlop gator grip” picks. You guys ever heard of or tried these? Think I might order a few.

I never tried the gator grips, but in general dunlop picks feel odd to me because I've been using the Fenders for so long (since the 80's)

I have soem Gator Grips & I like them. They do wear out a little quickly for my states, but the bevelled edges are helpful with the narrow string spacing on my Mustang--so I mostly use them when playing my Mustang.

I don't use these to play--as they have some collector's value--I got them at a pawn shop many years ago. I wish I'd bought more. They're fun.

Someone is selling three on reverb for $20 of the three. SO they're aren;t a goldmine, but not cheap these days. Check out this page ofr several more. The site is a cool one with many different guitar picks.

These are more picks I don't really use, but have them because they have musicians/nbands on them. this doesn't mean I am a fan of all of them--juts what I have. These are either ones from concerts or promo ones, not ones sold in stores with a bands name on it (Except possibly one of them) From Left to right: Ted Nugent, The Ventures, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Cheap Trick, Lindsay Ell

I have a pick that I got in the 1980's that says "Dusty Hill Pleaser". I had no idea what the heck the thing meant and my friends used to joke about "getting out the Dusty Hill Pleaser" pick for special occasions

Here are some picks with shapes other than the typical shape. (With one that shape, but with a cutout in the middle) A couple of these were marketed as mandolin picks, but I bought them any way, because they were different. I really don't use any of them, although I have experimented with them.

A friend gave it to me years ago and the leather is still holding up I have the same thing on my key ring, it’s been there for years and has saved me a couple times. A pics life is relatively short with me. It will last if I remember to place it on top of my amp when practice is over. If I don’t remember it winds up in my pocket and then god knows where, the wash, the ground. If I have to access a pick on my keychain it’s just a reminder I need to buy some picks.

My little pick wallet is the last line of defense for when I run out of picks in my cases or forget to grab a handful for my pocket. Saved me a couple times!

For laughs I looked up pick pouch keyrings online. I never actually saw someone else with one so I figured it was an uncommon thing. But since you guys have them they obviously are out there. And now I see there are a lot of them

The Bolo one I have hanging by my guitars, off a nail--so there are a couple of picks nearby that way. And it's decoration as well.
I got the pouch one after deciding against it a few times, but I had my keys on a ring--no tag or fob, etc. But it was old & starting to separate--so I did need a new one--so I got the pick one.
