Day is going great considering it started with a 10,000 foot long snake with camera attached shoved up my butt! š¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗ Since Iām not supposed to drive for 24 hours, Iām gonna go downstairs and wail on some guitar as my wife and daughter went out shopping and Iām all alone. You must have hell of an arse if it took 10,000 feet Rob.
Hope all goes well It sure looks that long when itās all wrapped up. I was just hoping they wouldnāt use the same āsnakeā to check my stomach!!

Actually, the worst part is the prep. No food for 24 hours and then drinking the full gallon of the solution. You need to install seatbelts on your toilet! Best to get an early morning appointment and donāt watch TV as there are too many food ads being shown making you hungrier.

Tomorrow is recycling week, so it's cardboard/paper/tins/bottles etct in one and garden rubbish in the other. But no garden rubbish as haven't managed to cut grass yet

In the summer, we get raccoons and skunks tearing into our trash bags so we have to wait till morning to put out the trash bags. In the winter, they tend to hibernate so we can put them out the night before. Our recycling and garden trash is picked up every week. Our recycling has to be separated into either paper products or metal/plastics...in 2 separate boxes.

Why? Not enough sleep? I have to say that the propofal stuff they gave me before my procedure yesterday was awesome. One minute Iām talking to everyone, completely lucid and the next thing I know Iām awake 35 minutes later in another room feeling rested. No wonder Michael Jackson liked this stuff. Too bad his doctor didnāt know how to use it! The last time I had any anaesthetic it knocked me out for a while. I've just been sleeping oddly--and sometimes staying up too late, sometimes not. I tend to pick up speed mid afternoon though.

Although a couple weeks ago my wife put out a bucket of compost and forgot to bring it to the composted and the racoons left a terrible mess on the stairs

When I woke up from my procedure, I was groggy for about 5 minutes. After that I felt very normal. when Iāve had surgery, the stuff they gave me then was always brutal. Thatās why they put you into a recovery room for an hour or so until you wake up and even then, you are still half asleep for a while. That stuff also makes me sick...I usually have to hurl my guts out a few hours after the surgery....not good for the stitches! go to bed early...let us retirees stay up late!š

I've been told I'm going to be getting the same procedure Rob just went through. It normally is about six weeks from the time you're told it's necessary until it happens. I wish I didn't know about it so far ahead because I'm quite intimidated by the prospect. I made the mistake of doing some online reading and happened across a couple of threads on the subject on TDPRI which were a little too graphic and really brutal sounding. One of those things I wish I could "unsee". When I saw my doctor last week, he asked me if I'd had a call scheduling it and I said no....He said if I haven't heard anything in a month to call his office. I can't imagine going through another full month dreading this....I'd rather avoid it altogether, but if it needs to happen. I'd rather just get it over with.

Many years ago. When I got my wisdom teeth out, all four were impacted and they had to crack pieces of my jaw out. I walked in like a bull and came out like a jellyfish, laid up literally for a week. That said, I'm glad I had the all done at once to get it over with...

I can't imagine going through another full month dreading this....I'd rather avoid it altogether, but if it needs to happen. I'd rather just get it over with. Ken, actually there is nothing to the procedure....it was weird, I was lying on my side in the "operating" room, I had an IV tube in my arm and the anesthesiologist was behind me. I was talking to the nurse, totally under no influence of anything that I could detect and the next thing I know, they woke me up in the original prep room where i was first admitted. The clock on the wall said 8:10 when I went in and 8:40 when they woke me up. The only pain I felt was the pinch of the IV needle. As I said, the worst part of the whole procedure was drinking the solution. It has a fruity flavour but it has what tastes like salt in it too. Kinda like Gatorade but saltier! My instructions were to eat breakfast no later than 6am (I ate at 6:30), then take 4 dulcolax pills at noon and finally start drinking the solution at 2pm. Best thing is to keep the solution cold. I didn't have room in my fridge for this huge gallon jug so I left it just outside my patio door as it was 34 degrees outside. It goes down much easier this way as you need to drink 8oz every 20 minutes. While doing this, you can eat jello (lemon, lime or orange flavours) but nothing solid. Once you get through this part of it, it's all smooth sailing. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. I don't know what anyone would post or say on TDPRI that would be graphic unless they were trying to be smart asses. There was one that I read last Thursday on there where the guy was having it done today. Some people made it sound horrible where others all said drinking the solution was the worst part. On Friday, friend of mine posted on Facebook that she had to go out to get her solution as she was going for her procedure tomorrow. I mentioned that I was just starting to drink my solution. As we chatted, I mentioned that this was my second time to which her response was "rookie!". She went on to tell me this was her 11th time (and she's about 10 yrs younger than me). Anyway, she said that at this point it's like going for a doctors appointment with a nap while she's there. Funny thing, the clinic called me last spring just before everything started shutting down due to Covid. When they never called me back, my doctor suggested that I call them. They told me that they were triaging all the appointments....so those with actual problems went to the front of the line and the 5 year checkups were being fit in. I got my call last week and got in a week later. All I can say is don't lose any sleep over this, it's very simple and as long as they don't find anything, you won't have to do it for another 5 yrs. Just relax buddy!

I know that most commonly, people get anesthetic for the procedure, although some of the guys on TDPRI mentioned doing it without being knocked out. One of my neighbours, a smoking buddy, told me when he went for his first time, he talked to a guy who didn't get put out so he was able to drive himself home. My buddy tried it awake and said never again...Take the sedation.
What scares me is that I don't sedate easily. When I had my cataract surgeries done in 2016, I woke both times in the middle of the procedure to find somebody cutting into my eyes. I don't want that to happen in the middle of this.
Truthfully, it's the prep that really makes me uneasy. I've heard enough nasty things about it to wish there was any other way to deal with things.

This isnāt the same kind of sedation stuff they use for surgery. This is Propofal and it works differently. Youāll be fine and even if you do wake up, there is no cutting involved...maybe a couple of seconds of slight discomfort before they knock you out again. However, you wonāt wake up...trust me. Take the sedation if you have the option. Have a friend drive you and pick you up or take a cab there and back.

Maybe I have some sort of reaction to whatever they used as well as some types of anaesthetics. And I had a diffrent type of flush drink But the same result. I also had a similar thing with an operation I had a few years before that. I had a liquid diet in both cases. Which allowed Jello, as long as it wasn't red or orange. When that's the most solid thing you can eat--well I went for it. Although for the operation I accidentally bought sodium reduced soup broth (An allowed item)-while that might be okay if you have other ingredients-but by itself--it's awful. For the "exam" I made sure I got regular broth.

We have bins like that as well. Apparently we do have a raccoons at times. I've never seen them. Skunks I have seen (& smelled) But they both help keep the mouse population down--so that's a good thing in my books.

We have some foxes in our town too. My kids are always excited when they see them. I remember last fall my wife and I were in the museum garden and we looked up and there was a fox standing there closely watching us. He didn't anything to do with us and quickly scampered off
