I really what the next shortage will be. Over the past 2 years laptops/chips, masks, 🚽 not paper and bikes were all hard to get at different points- what will be next? Wheat products. I thought I heard that Ukraine supplies a lot of wheat for Europe. North America will be asked to take up the slack which means less wheat and higher prices for us. wouldn’t a bullet in Putins head be cheaper? Not to go the political route but I think it is the only way for Russia to get out of this cleanly. But someone close to him would have to do it. <then everyone could say they didn't want this and things to would "right back to normal"

He’s already using carpet bombs on civilians and has moved thermobaric weapons into Ukraine. I’m wondering when he’s going to start arming his nukes….he’s already put them on alert. oh well, enough political sh!t.

I don’t have anything really planned for today. It’s a beautiful day and it would be nice to go for a ride to Niagara Falls or something but with the price of gas going up and up, I don’t think so. My wife just got up so I’ll see what she wants to do.

I got laundry done this morning and have spent all my time since dicking around with the guitar amp. It's a beautiful day outside....Too bad I missed it.

Well the gig was okay today. Personally I think the list, which is brand new, needs to burn in a few times in order to be really good. This was a low risk audience, which is why we put it out.
Then I tried to fix my daughter's laptop ( the other daughter). The USB C charger has stopped working and I suspect the port itself is worn out. I had the back cover of and I don't see anything obviously wrong. To go further I would have had to pull circuit boards out and I'm not ready to do this for fear of snapping something.

I went to a local monthly Blues Club last night. Usually I play with some quite good players, but last night the bass player was a beginner, who happened to be a female. She was not bad considering, like me she didn't know the songs. The drummer was one of the house band, so he was quite good. The real problem was the other guitarist, also the singer. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said Hendrix. Oh God, I thought. Jimi is not my favourite artist. He then started Little Wing, which I have never played with anyone and had no idea of chord progression. I asked him what key and he said E. To me it didn't sound right and just looked up chords and it should be Em. On top of that his guitar sounded quite out of tune He really fancied himself playing a white Strat as loud as he could, thinking he was Hendrix. By the time it came to my solo, I had just about got an idea of the chord changes, so compensated for his loudness by playing softly, which seemed to upset him a bit. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) His second number was Red House, but it was unlike any Red House I have played before. It reminded me of the time, back in the 60s, we did Dimples with John Lee Hooker. He seemed to play 13 or even 13 and a half bar blues. The guitarist was all over the place and his guitar still out of tune, with me and the bass player. She kept looking at me, wondering what was happening. Thinking about it, I wondered if he tuned his guitar down a bit, maybe half a step like Hendrix and forget to tell me and the bass player. Whatever he did, it was still out of tune. Even my amp maker mate, who's an avid Hendrix fan, noticed how out of tune he was and he's not a guitarist. I was glad when he stopped after two tunes, so I could get off ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

The old 13 or "13 1/2 bar blues" are something I've seen and it is so frustrating- usually it is people who aren't used to playing with others who do that. I'm sure I mentioned this before but at one jam I went to this kid said "let's play a 10 bar blues". I asked him what do you do with the other 2 bars and he said "you simply don't play them". You can imagine how THAT went

I went to “fill in” for a guitarist friend in a wedding band many years ago. It was only for a couple of gigs while he and his new wife were on their honeymoon. He told me beforehand to stay on my toes as the keyboard player would sometimes lose track of timing. I didn’t realize what he meant by this until we played the song Spanish Eyes. We got to the end of the first line and I was expecting him to hold the note for two bars and instead, he added one more beat….not another bar, but a single extra beat! He did this a couple of times in the song, sometimes even eliminating a beat from a bar. Totally screwed me up! The drummer knew how to get back on beat quickly but I think it screwed up the people dancing. It was bizarre but it seemed that it was the only song that he had problems with. I would have pulled that song from the repertoire if it were my band.

Chiro appointment this afternoon, doing some laundry this morning. I pulled out my old Telecaster yesterday and started playing a bit. I forgot how nice and fast the neck is on that guitar. Today, I might pull out my compressor and try some “chickin’ pickin’”. Except for the weight (almost 9lbs), it’s a fun guitar to play.

Three more library gigs came in today, so I'm happy about that!

My shoulder was killing me when I woke up this morning. Still the same tendinitis problem but last night I must have slept wrong or some thing…..I was having a hard time lifting my coffee cup to my mouth. I’m gonna go and ice it now.
I’d love to go for a nice drive with my wife but with the price of gas nearing $1.90/litre it’s best to just stay home.

Pretty busy day at work today- I think I forgot to post here this morning!
I'm trying to plan a trip towards the end of the month. I have those vacation days expiring and time is ticking. It is not that easy figuring this trip out with stops here and there and booking it around weekend gigs

Gotta do a quick Costco run this morning to grab some paper towels, coffee, water and a few minor items. This afternoon, I’m making some tomato sauce with meatballs to have for dinner tonight.

Looks like a really busy day at work today. Originally I was going to take today off to spend with my son, but there is just too much going on at work so my boss and I agreed tomorrow would be better. The weather forecast for tomorrow looks better anyway...

As expected, today was very busy at work- long day....
Had a nonprofit meeting tonight and someone out and out lied about something and I simply could not let it go so I had to get confrontational. I just can't let people lie publicly- I have no tolerance for people with no integrity.
At least I am off tomorrow!

I made a decision this morning to sell my PA system as a means of putting together cash to buy another guitar. The Hofner 459's are back in stock and I'd like to grab one while they're available. I just listed the Fender PA on Facebook Marketplace, so if I find a buyer, I'll order the Hofner.

The guy emailed me this afternoon and told me that the Limited Lifetime Warranty only covers faucets for 10 years and he attached a link to the warranty in the email. I read the first sentence of the warranty and it stipulates that every part is warranted for life to the original owner in the original house that it was installed which is my case. The 10 yr clause covers faucets in commercial buildings. So I took a screen shot of the warranty, highlighted the first sentence and told him he was wrong as I do not live in a commercial building and that if he couldn’t do anything for me, he should have his manager call me as I’ve never had a problem getting replacement parts from Delta, even as recent as last year. I also told him that we are about to remodel our main floor bathroom and I’ll have to think twice about buying another Delta product. I’ll keep you all updated so that you’ll know whether to look at delta products in future or look elsewhere. I love how these warranties sound great on the box but are useless when you try to actually use then So after hearing nothing for 5 days, I emailed the Delta Faucet customer service rep to ask what was going on and today I received an email from both the rep and the shipping department. So basically, they are shipping me new rubber seals and two new cartridges. Unfortunately, this isn’t what I asked them for. So, I called the customer service department and spoke to someone. I told her that they are sending me the wrong items and that I needed a faucet handle. I gave her the part number (which I had already given the other rep a couple of times) and she looked it up only to tell me that it is discontinued….BUT….they also have a spot they call “the cupboard” for discontinued parts and so she checked the stock in there and lo and behold, she found a couple of sets in there. So she told me that she’d send at set (they come in pairs) out this afternoon and that she wasn’t going to hold back the other items as she said that I’ll probably be able to use them in the future. Win-win situation!!! I should have just called and spoken to someone in the first place. It would have saved me a lot of time.

Mask mandates are being lifted in Ontario on March 21 but I think I’ll still be wearing one for a while longer. Although they are a bit of a pain, I’ll just feel safer wearing one for now.

We had a lovely day in NYC today. It was an important reset day for my son and me. We went to the Brooklyn museum (Got in free!) and spent three hours there and then went out for dinner. Really happy I took the day of to be with him

Well we're in St. Patrick's Day season for the band with gigs today, tomorrow and Sunday. One odd thing is that we've played Irish music in the same place a few times but never any other music. I wonder if they think we are primarily an Irish band?

Last week, they finally moved my BIL out of the hospital and into a transition home (until they find a permanent home for him) so I’m going to go pay him a visit as he is now in a private room and Covid requirements are a little more relaxed. My sister is now only visiting him 4 days a week and my wife and I plan on going once a week on the days that she’s not there.

I got a phone call from my oldest daughter yesterday. It appears that she'snot upset that I declined to have her boyfriend come alomng last time she wanted to come over. She mentioned us going for a walk today, which I was happy to accept. However, when I called her at noon hour, she said she was feeling sad about her dog dying and didn't want to go out. I offered to buy her lunch thinking it would cheer her up. She said okay, but then called back and said she had a flat tire and couldn't make it. I'm sure it was more likely that she was drunk and didn't want to go. Not much I can do except leave the door open and hope she makes up her mind to quit.
The only good news today was talking to my accountant...He says I'm not getting a tax refund, but won't have to pay anything out. I'd been concerned when I found out last month that we're obligated to declare the housing subsidy we get as seniors is taxable, and I was concerned that I'd owe money this year. So, I guess it's good news.
I had a real mess at home yesterday when I pulled my PA system out to take pictures for sales ad. This afternoon, I did a major cleaning, found a new place to store the PA, and have room to spare. I've been procrastinating about playing my guitar and test-driving my newly repaired Twin Reverb. Maybe tomorrow...

Today was a good day overall. Our gig was a real blowout- the place was packed and the audience was really enthusiastic. They hired us back for October too.
Meanwhile a couple days ago I thought I messed up something for a non profit badly and scrambled to fix it. Some research yielded today that I hadn't made any mistakes after all and I won't have to fix anything, which is a relief.

I got an email from L&M yesterday afternoon letting me know that my PRS is all set up and ready for pickup. I plan on bringing it home and playing it for a few hours this afternoon. I also want to pick up some air filters for our cars as they are probably due for a change and new ones may improve the fuel efficiency now that gas prices are spiking.
