This one has a sense of humour with what really is kind of a goofy song (in a good way)

the original is good too, but the cover is a different type of goofy--and I like it. And we should all be bale to like an original version & cover versions--and I think most of us do.

I think the Kid Full of Dreams album got some airplay right across Canada, but "Can't Catch Me" was the song from the LP that was really big on the west coast. Roy was a big part of the Vancouver music scene back then. His followup single was "Fly Back North" and was predictive of where rock was headed. Interestingly, Susan Jacks of The Poppy Family was one of the backup singers on that song. Roy got involved in a kind of Canadian supergroup after that.....UHF featured Roy, Shari Ulrich of the Valdy's Hometown Band, and Bill Henderson from Chilliwack. Roy continues to perform to this day despite being blinded in a home accident a few years ago, and he hosts a retro music show on CBC Vancouver on the weekends.

is that him playing guitar ? Yes, Roy's a pretty fine guitar player. He did the lead guitar on "Can't Catch Me". and on his followup, "Fly Back North", that's him playing some slide guitar.

Toyal Wilcox & Robert Fripp have been releasing loads of videos throughout our lockdown. Never thought I would see the man from King Crimson playing Smoke on the Water.
They seem a great couple, a bit mad, but still lovely.

Buffalo Springfield was a great band. It spawned a lot of big names in music and the albums stand the test of time....They never seem dated and still offer a fresh sound that captivates me whenever I listen to them. Some great bands came out of the Buffalo Springfield years.....Poco and Loggins and Messina to name couple, and some great musicians that turned into big stars on their own, like Neil Young.
One of my favourite bands from the mid-seventies was Loggins and Messina. They had a great following because of songs like "Your Mama Don't Dance", and I think some of their best stuff, while it wasn't big AM hit material, stands as some of their best work if you went to see their live show. This was always one of my favourites......

I know I'm biased as I don't like Mr Young. but that was awful. His whiny voice accompanied by strumming a guitar that sounds out of tune was 'interesting' Still, he has millions of fans and more money than me

Neil Young has been a big influence on me musically-especially electric guitar. Maybe not what you often hear--but it's true. I used to put on the album Decade & jam to Cowgirl in the Sand & Down by the River (And sometimes other songs) and Re-ac-tor & jam to those songs--mostly T-Bone. If we hall had the same influences & tastes it would get stale after a while.
