1976 Fender Princeton Reverb (owned from new) Tweed 5E3 with Jensen P12N Tweed Hi-Power 5E3 (25w) with Eminence spkr. Tweed 5F6 Bassman style 48w but with 2x10 spkrs (Jensen 100w Neos) and a valve Reverb Unit built in. Ethos Overdrive Amp 30w with a Tweed 1x12 cabinet with Jensen P12N. Ethos Clean Pedal and a 1x10 Tweed Cab with a Jensen Neo powered by an EHX Magnum 44 (excellent and very light) Well color me green with envy for the Princeton. Would love to own one and have had several opportunities, but never pulled the trigger.
I am curious how you like the Ethos Overdrive Amp 30w - killer idea and not unlike the Mag 22 I have, but with a whole lot more options (kinda a Nicky thing).
I can see this as a throw in a gig bag and show up amp - I like that.
Melvin
The two Ethos Pedals have made me evaluate even owning any tube amps any more.
They are quite remarkable and sound/react like an amp, not a pedal/toy.
I would probably not sell the Princeton but I can obtain the sounds of the other amps with the Ethos AMP 30w or the Ethos Clean pedal and the EXH 44.

I've got 2 old Gibson amps from about 1966. the 1st one that I got is a Gibson GA-15RVT. I've had it since 1966. the 2nd one is a Gibson GA-45RVT. I've only had it for a couple of years. in '66, it was Gibson's answer to Fender's Vibrolux at the time. I also have a Crate G60 solidstate amp. it's a good clean amp, but it just can't handle a couple of my guitars with hot pickups.

I was slightly bored so decided to give this part of the forum a bit of a bump and I figured this thread might prompt some discussion. So what kind of amps do you own? Personally, my only amp right now is a Fender Mustang III. At some point I will buy another tube amp, most likely a DRRI, but when I do I am not sure that I will get rid of the Mustang. I like it enough that I might keep it. If I decide it will just collect dust then maybe I'll get rid of it but it would be convenient to have it around for various tones that can't be reached with a DRRI and pedals. Of course you know you can't get a good tone out of those according to Joe Bonnamassa. Btw. I have one. <lol> i think it's a great amp. But what do I know? oops. Sorry. I should have read more carefully. Thought you meant a BDRI. never mind.

I'm glad I gave up listening to others tell me about the "tonez." The V22 is just fine for me. Yes I covet a ÷13, but I'm not rich. I also covet a Mesa MkV 35 watt. If I ever played in a band again, I might be able to justify one of those.
JB can play whatever he wants. He sure has a lot of the tools of the trade. He can have a fancy tool set, all I need is Craftsman, not Matco.

Crate V22? That is the damn loudest 22W I have ever witnessed...louder than a DR ever thought about... GREAT sounding amps but damn they can get loud... An old friend in the ATL plays through an old ass MK I Boogie that is awesome... Another plays a Z that kills... I have some killer amps... Killer amps all over BUT the one I want Santa to bring me is this... One day... One day.... Fender 65 Custom 15

Here is a somewhat worthless comparison of the Delta Blues 15 Peavey and the Twin Custom 15... Both sound good but the Fender to me is just juicy even though the dweeb put the damn mic in the wrong place on the Fender... The shiny dustcap should have been a hint but oh well... Still sounds good with mic aimed at wood.... Skip past the talking...

Last night. Was reminded, very poignantly, that my DR is something special.
There must be something wrong with it, but whatever that is, I do NOT want to fix it.
We opened for a veteran Chicago-style act. Their guitarist used a DR and a Les Paul. Lulz.
He spent the entire night trying to make his rig sound as fat as mine, and tearing up his fingers to get somewhere near what I did with my Strat. #owned
I was pretty amused at the time; even the promoter was...uh...duly impressed. Feeling a bit guilty today; they booked the wrong act to open.

By all rights, he should have had a much thicker and fatter sound. My amp was easily louder and warmer than his. So, it wasn't the guitar. Still kinda puzzling on it.

I'm glad I gave up listening to others tell me about the "tonez." As I posted elsewhere, I still covet a Deluxe Reverb but financially it isn't in the cards right now unless I stumble across an amazing deal. In the meantime I am probably going to grab a Marshall Class 5. My friend who works at my guitar shop bought it about a year ago but isn't using it and decided to sell it to help recoup the money he spent on a Friedman. There are a lot of people who really like the Class 5 and just as many who dislike it but I can ignore them because I do like how it sounds for home use, which is all I will ever need an amp for. So long as I like what I can do with it, that is all that matters.

Remember the scene in Back to the Future in which Marty blows himself across the room with an amp? If you plan to use those 85 watts to do that to Friggsley that is something that I both support and applaud. But for home use? Holy hell man!

He got the Plexi for $100 back in 1983. A tweaker guitarist sold it buy dope.

Many people liken the Class 5 to a Plexi (some to the JTM era, other to the JMP era). I think it has its own thing going on while still retaining a non master volume Marshall vibe. With some tweaks though they can be made slightly more Plexi like, probably more JTM than JMP I think. For a while I had considered some serious mods if I were ever to buy another but now I think that the only mod I would do would be to eventually install some sort of power scaling. This one has the low power switch, but they sound better at low volumes with power scaling. Now that, is a great deal!

Nobody else makes anything comparable with so thorough a MIDI implementation. Also have a BDRI and a Vox VT30. Then three early '60s Hoffmans with EL84s and lots of iron in both the OT and Power transformers. And a couple of low watt amps. A 2w (more like 5 though) single ended 6BM8 powered MIJ from like '62 (Mayfair) and an unknown make 8w 6SL7gt powered single ended lapsteel amp from the '50s. i think that's all. Oh wait. A Marantz 1060 which is a great early '70s ss mosfet. 30w perchannel. But one dude has a blog on which he states he measured 50w per channel before clipping.
