I mostly use D'Addario strings on most of my electric guitars... 9's on the Stratocaster, and 10's on the rest of them. But, I'm also constantly trying out other types. Come to think of, I also use D'Addario strings on my acoustic guitars most of the time, though I've tried Martin 12's on the six-string model. I always seem to end up with phosphor-bronze strings, for some reason. One the Rickenbacker 12-string, I use Rickenbacker strings. Roger McGuinn told me to. --Rob

On Gibson-scale guitars, I use GHS Boomers, .011 - .050.
On Fender-scale guitars, they're GHS Nickel Rockers, .010 - .048.
On my Yamaha acoustic, it's D'Addarrio .012 - .054. My old Takamines, I used Ernie Ball Earthwood Silk & Steel in .013 - .056.

on my Les Paul and my 2 Gretsch Jets, I use 10s. I have been using GHS Boomers, but I came into some Gretsch strings(Gretsch is on the package) that I plan to use the next time I change strings. the strings were a "door prize" that I won at a Gretsch gathering in Kansas City. on my '59 Gretsch hollowbody, I use 11s. anything else and the strings rattle. on my acoustics, I like to use John Pearce Phosphor Bronze slightly light gauge. I like to bend the strings.

I used 10's on everything, I've experimented with 11's for a while and even some hybrid strings but always back to the regular slinks.

I guess it's a little weird to me that Ernie Ball strings are made about 30 minutes from me and I've never used them. I hear good things, but I never really experiment with strings. I've tried a few other brands, but mostly Gibson Bright, DR Blue and something else I couldn't remember. But my tech (who is decidedly NOT cheap) has always gone back with D's and only sold the D's in his shop back when he did retail as well as build/repair work. And every time I've played them, they've been great. I wish there was something that I could try that would noticeably be better, but it hasn't happened yet. Whenever I go to .009's, I choke them like a Russian whore. I wish some .010's would feel like 9's without giving up the stability of 10's.

I really like the Dunlop strings. I've been using 9s forever. I tried going up to 10s, but just didn't like the feel.

I fell in love with the d'addario nyxl .09s I like the .10s too, They last forever and theyre rather gentle on the fingers, though they get quite pricey if you swap them out alot

Friends of mine who work at the guitar store I shop at have switched to those. I am still happy with Rotosounds. If I were to switch (doubtful) it would be back to Dean Markley Blue Steels.

I seem to gravitate toward D'Addario Nickels .010-.046.

I've always used the regular slinks, mostly because I always got great bulk deals on them.

I'm fairly decided that I don't like #9's. I'm too heavy handed for 9's. Other than that I'm still figuring out what I like best.
ATM three of the electrics have EB 10's. Those three will get EB 11's next string change. My goal is to have them feel more similar to my acoustics.
The Yamaha FG has D'addario 12's The Swingster has D'addario flatwound 12's.
The Martin still has the Martin 13's it came with. I have a set of D'addario Nickel-Bronze 13's next in line because I want to see if I can get it even warmer and more woody sounding.

I'm fairly decided that I don't like #9's. I'm too heavy handed for 9's. I was pretty much the same way until I got my Tele and discovered that I loved that thing with .09s. When I started transitioning to playing with my fingers instead of a pick I realized that I was often too heavy handed with my thumb when doing downstrokes so I switched that guitar to .10s instead. Once I have my fingers consistently under control I will switch it back. Try John Pearse strings. They cost more but sound great and last forever. The Gibson Masterbuilt ones are also really good and are less expensive than the John Pearse strings.

No way I could do 9's. I'd wind up tearing them right off the neck. I'm fairly heavy handed but the real reason is that I would take to much advantage of the lighter gauge to do goofy things with my bends causing an untimely death to the 9's.

I play tens on my Lester scales, nines on my Fender scales...
Played a Lester a while back with eights and I almost hurt myself...
Playing tens, when you snatch a high E string bend, you know what to expect. On the eights, I thought I was gonna flip over backwards...no resistance at all....
One thing about Lesters in my dumbass opinion, nines or especially eights just didn't sound right bending the high E string to me...sounded different than the other strings... Prolly just in my haid, but that's how i hear it... Tens sound more like the other strings. I guess it wouldn't matter though going nuclear with a compressor...

I tried 9's on my LP and hated the sound. They were the same kind of string, just lighter gauge. Back to 10's and haven't looked back. 10's on the Strat so I can buy same package and grab strings from either case when I get low. Strat sounds great with 10's anyway.
