The problem with most multiefx is that the presets are written to feature all the effects. Not to necessarily give a bunch of good patches. People have to get in there and customize 'em. Otherwise they're just turned off. Some just take them as is and don't see the potential. Which is what presets are for...displaying potential...maxed out mostly. Yeah presets usually suck and customization is a definite requirement. One of the reasons I like the Mustang III is that it also includes basic amp models with only an effect or two (usually reverb or something similar). Those effects can be easily removed and then you are left the basic amp from which to sculpt the sounds you are after. I've been getting more and more into clean tones lately so I like the ability to do this and only add a touch of reverb to most of the amp sims that I am using.

I haven't been too displeased with Behringer manuals. Except they have versions in twenty languages included. What a waste of paper.

The best written manuals for complex stage and studio equipment (IMO) are from Mackie and Alesis. The worst, Roland and Yamaha.

Tascam makes great manuals i have found. They are simply written for the most part. except when they tried to explain how to use the midi drum kit on the oringal tascam 2488 which was a charlie fox to use at all even if you knew perfectly well how....

I always valued a good thick manual... Works much better in the fireplace than those thin multifold one pagers that begin with:
Congratulations on good buy this quality item from company. We value like your happy.

Well, I've got an MXR Carbon Copy (analog delay) that tends to stay on. But the thing is dialed down way low. I don't want it to echo what I'm playing... instead, I just use it to give a certain thickness, if you will, in conjunction with my Fender amp.
I don't use it much at all with the Blackstar amp. I usually play through that one on the gain channel, but don't usually have any effects going with it other than gain.
I've got a bunch of pedals, but don't really use them much.
Oh! And I tend to use a MXR dyna comp while playing my 12-string electric through the Fender amp.
The rest of 'em only get used once in a great while.

For delay I use the DD2, set to about 800ms set to a level that when I want delay it really washes the sound in echo.

Can't say I ever use distortion, just not part of my vocabulary. OD on the other hand - Blackstone is my go to for several reasons - two distinct OD's and space - it's sitting sideways on my present board.
I've got two Boss Blues Driver's - One is Keeley mod the other is stock (I like both equally as well honestly). Danelectro 'Daddy O' - nice pedal, very tweakable, but big Austone 'Millennium Overdrive' - very good, but collecting dust . . . Alas Not really overdrive, but two different Divided by 13 pedals - a 'Dyna-Ranger' (that I have 0 use for) bought on a whim hoping it would be like the 'Lift' on my 'Switchazel' - pure boost.

Went with the mxr after that and just liked it better. Turns out the dd2 was made in 2 countries, Japan and if I'm not mistaken Taiwan. I researched after mine died trying to find an answer for its early demise. The dd2's that came out of Taiwan had issues, it's been a long time and I can't remember the details but I'm pretty sure you can google it if you ever have an issue with yours. The dd2 worked just fine for me up unit then.

Of all effects, delay was the hardest for me to master. I don't know, it just took me a long to get the hang of it. I don't mean a couple of hours either, I think I fooled with it for a year before I finally got comfortable with it.

Hey. I gots plenty of multiefx let me tell you. Somehow I've programmed the 505 for some really good classic rock/metally sounds. We had a two week power outage about a decade ago and it was all I had to practice with cause I had tons of 9 volts. Tweaked those sounds for two weeks. If I spent that much intense effort on my other effects I would have the same or better I guess.

My main patch is saved with none on... I can kick one on when I want... I dig that....takes too much time kicking up/down through presets...
I've watched folks on stage with multi's sucking clock just trying to find the right patch... Irritating...

Might have to amend my list of faves. Was cleaning out storage, rediscovered a couple of pedals built to spec for me. One is "The Ugly Stick", a Cfet circuit that was originally screwed to a scrap of 2x4. Cross between a TS and a Blackstone. Just need to finish the enclosure. The other is something truly unique; a Cfet circuit wired into an EB volume pedal. Maximum output voltage is insanely high, 3.5V. O.O Sucks a battery dry in a matter of hours. Gives me seamless and unlimited variety in overdrive sounds. Going to contact the builder about taming the output voltage;it's simple to do, but I don't remember exactly how. Some sort of resistor across the output. Anyways, if I get that one sorted, the Ethos, for all its glorious Dumbletone and amp simulation, may well end up in 2nd place. It's good to be me.

I'd love to have one of these again "Tonefactor Hellbilly." One of the best fuzzes I ever had. In a fit of stupidity I sold it. I'd love to find another one. They're as scarce as "hens teeth."

Butler Tube Driver, hands down. Would do anything from gentle boost to facemelt.
I haven't used a distortion pedal in years, though -- I'd rather use a good, dynamic amp's dirt -- and that's the approach I'm taking as I shop amps for my new Ibby.

If I can only have one, favorite is my 80s RAT 2, hands down.
Being too cheap and too unskilled to justify a premium amp, I use a Mustang III. I hooked it up to the software once and set it to a super clean Twin Reverb model with reverb as the only effect. That is usually always on 0 or 1.
My strategy right now is an OCD that's always on with the RAT before it, both with the gain set to 9:00. The OCD cleans up well with guitar volume and engaging the RAT gives me a nice volume and smooth gain boost for lead.
Other combos I use are a Ge mini Fuzzface with the gain low and the volume cranked into the OCD, RAT, or a Joyo Deluxe crunch.
It's tough to not use adolescent levels of gain when that much is available. After the distortion, the chain has a Foxrox Aquavibe, Boss PH-2, Memory Boy Deluxe, with an MXR 10 band EQ shaping the whole mess.
I just got a xotic BB preamp, so this may well change in the future.

I very rarely use any pedals, but I do have one of these on standby just in case of needing a touch of overdrive at low volumes through 59 Baseman.
