They can be convenient if you brace. I think it depends a bit on the finish. Eg. My trad looks well with one where as the BFG looks better without. ![](http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t465/DonD1968/95B2D407-69A2-4E50-9235-DDDFC9EC4218_zpslvu3b97k.jpg) ![](http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t465/DonD1968/E4857C0E-B7F3-4639-A087-0CDB98DFB643_zpsoad2yocg.jpg) Your Traditional bears a striking resemblance to "Pearly."

People didn't seem to like he asym necks on the 2008 Std's, but it's the dreamiest neck I've ever played. It's fat, it's thin. Perfect. You have to really look closely to see the change. It wouldn't show up in a photo, so I won't bother. Out of curiosity, could you (or anyone else who is familiar with them) comment in more depth about the neck thickness? If I can't find a Trad I may have to consider Standards. I need something thick because of the arthritis so the thin section on the Standard might bother me. But if it is only for a few frets then it might not really be an issue.

It's thicker (but not super thick) on the bass side. The thinner side still isn't "thin", just thinner. It's the most comfortable neck I've played, and I've played quite a few. I like the slim necks, but not nearly as much as something with a little meat on it. It's actually pretty subtle. You really have to look to see it, and you barely feel it. What you do feel is that the neck fits your hand (well, fits MY hand--can't speak for yours...) perfectly and 4hrs later, you're still going on it. I recommend checking them out.

my 50th anniversary R8- Murphy aged. i have done some mods- the Timbucker pickups, RS pots and bees, most of the plastics etc are DMC or something, Kluson repro tuners with Uncle Lou tips. i haven't done the inlays yet, but i have a set of beautiful repros to go in when i get around to it. thing plays great, and feels great. just around 8.5 pounds and the neck is just marginally bigger than my R9. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/shad40/_DSC0012_zpsmws7vb7u.jpg)
