People didn't seem to like he asym necks on the 2008 Std's, but it's the dreamiest neck I've ever played. It's fat, it's thin. Perfect. You have to really look closely to see the change. It wouldn't show up in a photo, so I won't bother.

Love Gibson Lester necks but my favorite has always been the Hamer necks... Just felt better...

I love the fat neck on my LP. It took awhile to get used to it, but it's super comfortable. You have an R8 right? I would prefer an R7 myself but unless one magically appears at a stupidly low price (it does happen, and my buddy the sales guy is keeping his eyes open for one), I have to go with a Trad for now. ![Smiley01-1](http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww173/prestonjjrtr/Smileys/Smiley01-1.gif) No she doesn't, she knows that ship sailed loooooong ago. ![GT_crazy](//storage.proboards.com/6378980/images/lLmL_zcoz1Mshm7ehC4B.gif)

havent you toad? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) The fat neck on my trad is awesome, I've got big hands, so my hands wrap around it perfect, and one thing I always thought was weird since I always had epiphones before I bought my gibson, was the fret nibs. Now I cant stand going with out them. I may not be able to play, but damnit, this guitar makes me feel like I can.

K...I was interested in the year/neck profile but 2014s don't work for me because Gold Top and Ebony weren't available as finishes in 2014 because Henry is an idiot.

Mick Ronson didn't have a pickguard as well as Paul Kossoff.

Well, in Mick's defense, NOBODY could have a pickguard as well as Paul Kossoff.

No pickguard for Brother Duane, either.

No pickguard for Brother Duane, either. But brother Dickey did have a pick guard. Duane also top wrapped at least one of his guitars but Dickey didn't. (I just edited this post as I realized that I had meant to say that Dickey had a pick guard but mistakenly said Duane).

Well.....that's like sayin' Elton John would sound better with a megaphone in his' butt.

Post by Marshall 'n' Moonshine on Mar 17, 2016 1:17:29 GMT
Im guessing you've never put a megaphone to your butt. I've farted into someone's mic and can say it sounded way better. So the logic is there...

Yep....farting into a mic is taking science into the real world. You are truly a scientist.

The stock pickguard on Les Pauls looks good. I actually take mine off just because I think they get in the way. Having a raised pickguard on an arch top guitar doesn't work for me.

They can be convenient if you brace. I think it depends a bit on the finish. Eg. My trad looks well with one where as the BFG looks better without. ![](http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t465/DonD1968/95B2D407-69A2-4E50-9235-DDDFC9EC4218_zpslvu3b97k.jpg) ![](http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t465/DonD1968/E4857C0E-B7F3-4639-A087-0CDB98DFB643_zpsoad2yocg.jpg)
