(First--no real general guitar forum-but if this needs to be moved--move away.)
So I wanted to start a thread to share guitar related quotes -the gear, the players, the guitar makers, playing, bands, learning, whatever. Things that may inspire, amuse, educate, make you think, wonder or whatever as well. Quotes by unknowns & famous people, musicians & non-musicians.
I've heard tons of them, and many are worth sharing.
So please add quotes and we'll see how this goes. (Of course any forum rules will apply)

My first contribution is something I heard years ago--I don't remember where I first heard it--and searching online many have said different variations of it. But it was one of the earliest & best pieces of advice I ever got on playing guitar:

“Play through your mistakes”, I was once told this by a really good musician because he saw that I was nervous before a gig, he was really giving advice to the band but it always stuck with me.

I remember being on another guitar forum and one of the younger members remarked that, " you older guys have all the "vintage" guitars." ha ha ha I answered back, "they weren't "vintage" when we bought them."

I can relate to this. I don't have any memory of a moment when I didn't want to play guitar. It's part of my earliest memories.
It just was.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. I agree, maybe what he meant was that not everyone will become a professional guitar player?

Maybe, but even just casual playing as well could be included. I know some people who really shouldn't. They tried & that's cool--maybe there's something else they could do?

I don't know who this is--but there's something I like about it.

Although there have been times I felt the guitar had abandoned me. But that passed.

Maybe a little strongly worded, but I agree with the sentiment here. Learning to read music in no way hurts you. (Well maybe your brain)

I think he knew 2 or 3, but same idea--and he did mean them.

On the sixth anniversary of his passing, a quote from BB King:
And some of my favourite guitarists seem to me to be honest players--BB King among them.
