Sister in law asked us to go over for lunch and to look at her printer which seemed to have lost all its wifi settings. Had a nice lunch and some wine and we brought some of Canada’s best butter/pecan tarts for desert. Got their printer reconnected and then enjoyed the visit like regular retirees.🤪

It is really irritating- so irritating that my son up and bought his own printer for his room because he simply couldn't deal with it anymore

My SIL hardly ever uses their printer and so it’s always off. I’m wondering if the internal battery on their printer died. Thats the one that maintains all the background info in the printers memory. My printer is about the same age as theirs (3 yrs) but I keep mine powered up 24/7 and it goes into sleep mode when not in use. Another reason I believe that their battery died is the clock on the printer was reading 5:24 am and the actual time was 2:35pm.
I told them to keep it on 24/7 or they’ll be inviting me up for lunch many more times in the near future. They didn’t realize that with the printer left on, they could print from anywhere in the house from their iPad, phone or any mobile device. Damn old people! 🤦🏼♂️

Well today seems to have been a good day all around in our household. Good news from school and college, light work day and another gig booked. All in a day's work

I had a frustrating day at work. It started out well, but in the midst of doing a fairly complicated project, the owner's brother who is (to put it delicately) disadvantaged, managed to distract me enough that I lost an important piece of paperwork in the warehouse and spent about two hours past my normal quitting time looking for it. I can only hope Monday's a better day.
Tonight, I'm having my first Southern Comfort day since I moved and am thoroughly enjoying shrugging off the days problems and relaxing. In about an hour, I'm going to roll myself something to smoke and go for an extended walk downtown since I don't need to get up early tomorrow.
I'm sure not looking forward to getting up an hour earlier on Monday. TV news is suggesting that this might be our last time change....The switch to permanent Daylight Savings Time was a popular notion last year but it was put off because the BC government wants to coordinate with Washington, Oregon, and California changing. Sounds like we'll likely do it this year regardless of what our neighbours do.

I always change my clocks/watches over around 11pm and that gives me a sense of it being later than it actually is. The time change has never bothered me. Ontario has also toyed around with the idea of permanent DST but they keep saying that they would like to get Quebec, New York and Michigan on board with it too before it goes forward with the change. If I recall correctly, Saskatchewan is the only province that doesn’t change over to DST.

I don’t have a dedicated computer desk since we all use our tablets or phones for email and surfing. I usually use my computer for more complex work and I’ll just plop down at the kitchen table and use it. So I’m kinda forced to have a wireless setup in the house since we all use it from different areas and using different devices.

I have a small office in my house which was probably finished as a walk in closet since it is only like 5'6"x 12'. But it has a window and my L- shaped desk fits perfectly there. Of course the biggest advantage is it is fairly Isolated from the rest of the house so it is easy to close the door and not be disturbed. That's where my desktop and my printer live. There is a wireless printer in the adjacent room that everyone can use

So, I’m bored today. Nothing really to do today. So bored in fact that I gathered the dirty clothes and did the laundry, folded the clothes and put everything away. Getting a bit of a tickle in my throat and the sniffles. I took some vitamin C but I think it’s more like an allergy.

Getting a bit of a tickle in my throat and the sniffles. I took some vitamin C but I think it’s more like an allergy. I wouldn't know how to turn the washing machine on I learned how to do the wash, iron and mend at the age of 20 when my mother got cancer and was laid up for much of the time until she passed 3 years later. Then I had about 4 months to teach my dad how to do these things before I got married and moved out. I always tell my wife how lucky she was to have found me! She always tells me that if I could cook, I’d be the perfect husband! Shhh....don’t tell her but I actually had to learn how to cook too when my mother was ill and after she passed.

Today should have actually been my sons wedding day. Unfortunately they broke up in October after living together for 5 years. The Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and both having to teach from home created mental stress for the two of them. It was very unfortunate as we really liked his fiancé and her parents were wonderful people. They were American and lived in Connecticut. She was working up here in Canada when the two of them met. Kinda sad that it didn’t work out but it was better that they ended the relationship before they got married and had some kids.

Well, like you said, better to find out now then down road.

Saved me enough money to buy a few custom shop Les Pauls too!
Unfortunately, I need to install new windows and replace a fence so I might have enough left over for a Squier Stratocaster.

Lazy start to the day, but have some stuff to do around home ahead of me. Part of it will help rearrange stuff to give me more space for gear & playing.

Well the wife and I decided that we needed a break from the kids so we drove to Pennsylvania. Went to a museum and now sitting at the hotel before figuring out dinner...

I was pretty productive before we left. My wife was working this morning so I did the ironing, washed the pots that can't go in the dishwasher, and practiced with my son for 2 hours. For some reason I actually like ironing

As I said earlier, I learned how to iron, sew, cook and do laundry. I don’t especially like doing any of those things but I think I’d prefer ironing.

My grandma always said any man needs to be able to make basic sewing repairs so she taught me how to patch, sew a button on, etc. I also learned how to stitch buttonholes by hand, but I haven't needed to do that in years. I kind of like ironing, but I used to like it more when I was single and starched everything. Actually something I find very therapeutic is polishing shoes, as odd as it sounds

Missus does any sewing and ironing and I rarely polish shoes these days. Just keep a pair of 'Wedding/funeral' black shoes and the rest are trainers or boots.

Got a man coming in later to sort out our garden. There's a tree that needs a lot of branches cut down and bushes that need pruning. He can do more in a couple of hours than I could do in a week, and anyway, I'm too old to be climbing trees. Better to pay someone

I rarely polish my shoes with wax anymore. But I do treat all my leather shoes with animal fat and mink oil to keep them waterproof and to keep the leather from cracking

I won't do that stuff either- one fall from a tree and you are history

He can do more in a couple of hours than I could do in a week, and anyway, I'm too old to be climbing trees. Better to pay someone I don’t do any tree climbing. If the tree needs a few branches cut down, I have one of those extendable tree pruners that I use to trim branches up to maybe 1.5” thick. If I need to trim anything thicker, my neighbour has a similar item with a small electric chainsaw on the end which can handle branches up to 4 or 5 inches thick. I also have a 16” electric chainsaw that I have used to cut down some smaller trees. I have on a few occasions called a tree service to grind down the tree stumps or, in the case of the tree that blew over in my yard last fall, completely cut it into small pieces, put the branches thru the wood chipper and grind down the stump. Earlier this week, my wife and I trimmed back a dwarf ornamental willow right to the trunk as it was starting to get too big, making it difficult to shape. We did this about 7 or 8 yrs ago and figured it it comes back, great, if not we’ll plant something else there. Well it came back! So after this weeks trimming, we are left with a 6ft tall trunk with a 12” clump of cut off branches at the top. Hopefully it comes back again.
