Nothing planned for today. My wife had a doctor's appointment midday so maybe an early walk and then something more interesting this afternoon?

This storm Eunice is quite bad. Strongest winds I’ve seen around us ever. Luckily fences and roof tiles seem to be holding, at the moment. A couple of photographs have fallen off a wall on the stairs up to the attic and that’s it

I got back from the dentist and my daughter was just finishing up shovelling the driveway. She thought I had planned it that way! 😁

Nothing planned for today except shovelling snow. The plow came down the street last night and left a mound of icy snow in front of our driveway. I went out at 11:30pm to break it down a bit so that my daughter could get her car back on the driveway as she was out last night. However, I need to use the snowblower to give it a good cleaning.

So I cleaned off the driveway and sidewalks, cleaned off the cars and was happy that I got it all done. I just looked outside now and it appears that we are getting some snow streamers…very blizzard like conditions, especially with the high winds. I really f**king hate winter!

I really f**king hate winter! You're living in the wrong place of you hate winter! Winter is fine until Jan 2, then it needs to go away! This year has been extremely snowy it seems but it’s probably because we haven’t had any thaws. It snowed in mid January and the temperatures have stayed below freezing ever since. Finally had some melting this week and then we got dumped on again.

Slow start to the day--which is great--watched some YouTube guitar stuff, relaxed, had food. have some things to do around here this afternoon though--so after another bite to eat in a little bit, I'll get to it.

I made some burgers earlier at lunchtime but couldn't face another one for dinner. I'm making a big pot of mashed potatoes...Some for supper tonight and probably the rest at some point tomorrow. I'm craving mashed potatoes with gravy, so tomorrow I'll take another shot at finding gravy mix at the grocery store. I'm having a lot of trouble finding things since they rearranged (again)....Sometimes they piss me right off - You figure out where things are and then some rocket scientist thinks it would be better if everything gets shuffled.

Just get canned beef gravy, heat a little bit up and refrigerate the rest. Sounds like you are getting the mashed potatoes down however- making progress, my friend!

They do that on purpose. If you know the layout too well then you won't have to go through most of the store (Or all of it) You'll just go where the stuff you cam in for is. But if they rearrange things, you have to look through more of the store I find it annoying as well.

Today is museum day in Philadelphia. Not sure what we will do first, but we have quite a few on the list.
Slept terribly. The hotel is nice but there must be a wedding party on my floor. They weren't deliberately obnoxious but they kept coming and going all night and talking in the hall until at least 2.00

I got 9 hours of sleep last night….a rarity for me as I normally only get 6-7 hours. However, I think the snow shovelling has caught up with me as my shoulder and neck pain is now going down my right arm to my elbow. When I woke up, I found my elbow joint so stiff that I couldn’t straighten it out. I’ve stopped going to physio as they’ve told me to just keep doing the exercises. They don’t seem to be doing anything for me. My chiropractor suggested that I go for massage therapy.
Nothing on the agenda for today. Watch TV, play guitar, possibly regrip my golf clubs….but I’m feeling lazy.

Typical Sunday for me....Laundry first thing, do dishes, vacuum, breakfast, and sent my weekly email to my daughter in Washington state. Then, time to sit down for some serious TV watching. Life's feeling pretty dull and predictable right now and I'm not really sure how to shake it up.

We went to the Eastern State Penitentiary today. Talk about a creepy place. The place has been abandoned as a prison since 1970 and it is absolutely massive. Much of it is in very poor shape but there are a lot of interesting exhibits there.
Afterwards we went to the Pennsylvania academy of fine arts- more of a traditional art museum. We did a fair bit of walking so now just chilling at the hotel

Today is a holiday here in most, if not all of Canada. It’s called Family Day in Ontario….a day to spend with your family, hiking, taking in events, going to movies etc. My kids are all grown up so they aren’t interested in doing that stuff and my wife and I don’t work anymore, so every day is Family day for us.
We are going to go and visit my wife’s aunt in the nursing home this afternoon now that they have lifted some of the visitation rules. We haven’t seen her since last summer. She’s just been put into palliative care and isn’t doing very well at all.

A couple of years ago, for her 80th birthday, my wife had a photo book printed for her with photos of her husband, brothers, sister, mother, children and grandkids and she didn’t recognize many of them including her husband and son who had both passed away a few years earlier. It’s a terrible disease.

We did go to the mütter museum, which was quite interesting, but by the time we got out of there it was well into lunchtime. So we got some lunch and decided to skip the wildlife preserve and just come home instead. Beautiful day for driving and the roads were clear so back home now.

Her daughter came with us and while we were there, she was very talkative (although incoherent) and was constantly smiling at us. When we left, her daughter said that she couldn’t believe how happy she appeared today. She hardly ever talks anymore and rarely smiles but today, she seemed to be in a great mood! It was almost like she knew who we were….even though our faces were covered from the eyeballs to our chins! Turned out to be a nice visit.

It was almost like she knew who we were….even though our faces were covered from the eyeballs to our chins! Turned out to be a nice visit. While not a blood relative, we used to know this much older lady who was like a big sister. She had great tales to tell from her life. When she got dementia it was sad that was gone. But sometimes there would be a few visitors and we'd be having our own conversation, and out of the blue she would pipe up & speak--and it would be relevant & wise, although it didn't seem like she knew what was being said. As for our day: We stayed at home & hung out--and rested--which we needed, did a bit of stuff around the house as well.
