Not necessarily the best sounding or even your favorite amp- what is your coolest amp and why?

I'd have to say it would be my 1966 Gibson GA-15RVT. I took it to a gig one night after I had just gotten it out of the shop for a "tune-up". I got a lot of compliments on it. I'll have to see if I can find a picture some where.

I use it to calm down the mini-humbuckers on my Les Paul Deluxe.

I was always more about acquiring guitars than amps, but in some ways that's changing.
I think all of my amps are cool in some way, so coolest?
It's a tie.
First up the one I've had longer is my Roland JC-60.
One cool thing about it is the Chorus it has--sounds great--and I went & bought a footswitch for it.
the other cool thing was showing up at a jam with a (gasp) solid state amp.
Some would scoff, but after playing, even if my playing didn't impress them, most loved my sound.
Most of the time it was my guitar (during the time this happened it was my Iceman, and I also encountered brand snobs that ti wasn't a Gibson or Fender) to a Boss DS-1 (unmoved (More sneers from some)-into a solid state JC-60.
People wanted to try it put, and maybe some bread & tube snobs changed a bit those times, maybe not.
For some it worked & others didn't now what to do with it.
but that amp was/is pretty cool because it was met with sneers, and left with cheers.

This is the best picture I can find right now of the JC-60 It has high & low inputs, a Bright Switch--which is almost always off. Then Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Distortion (rarely used-I use pedals), Reverb. The last section is Speed & Depth for Chorus or Vibrato--and an off setting. Usually the Chorus is turned on, and I switch it on & off with a footswitch. And of course the On/Off switch is there too. I will post later about the other coolest amp

My '79 Deluxe Reverb. . I bought it in the mid-90s and it was near mint. I just loved that Fender "sparkle". Two years ago, I brought it in for a cap job and a check up. When I went to pick it up, the guy asked me if I wanted to sell it. He said it was the best sounding DR that he's ever had on his bench.

I love Deluxe Reverbs, never owned one, but I have played through them.
They are definitely cool amps.

My other coolest amp--and the one I use the most, is an Orange Micro Dark. It's cool because it's an amp head that weighs less than 2 pounds. It has 20 watts. And it's a hybrid amp--which I love. the controls are simple--and the midrange control is so easy to use--and isn't just a middle control--it really cranks them or gets rid of them--and makes for some easy sound changes for different guitars & different songs. The gain control gives you some great amp distortion--from slight to a lot. And it also works with a distortion pedal as well--to switch between that & a clean sound easily. Here it is seated atop a gutted Fende G-Dec Amp (Just the cab & speaker (& grill cloth with logo) left I got that cab, a dual foot switch & a fender display sign (Small one) for under $10 when a store was closing down to rebrand.

Here's my coolest. It is an old school PA made by Stromberg Carlson. 2x 6L6 maybe 22 watts. The preamp tube is metal envelope, not glass Attachments:

I used to have an old Bogen CHB 50 PA that someone had converted into a guitar amp. My father and I built a 2-12 cabinet for it and it was my guitar amp for a few years when I was in high school

I wasn’t going to chime in on this because I really don’t have a favorite. I never replaced my play-out rig after the fire. I came out of it with my line 6 amps that I really don’t like so I bought the mustang 200 thinking my band days were over. They are both modelers and of the 2 I like the fender better I guess. If I advance to playing out again I’ll probably be looking at the fender combos for starters.

When I play bass tgrhough an amp it's normal my Fender Rumble 40 It's cool because of the way it sounds (Rumble is a good name) Also because it has an XLR out that can go to a PA, and you till hear the bass through the amp--so in a sense it's a DI box with a speaker. And it has a push button marked Vintage (As well as a bright button & a contour button)--but the Vintage one is one I use.-it's designed to emulate the older Fender amps--and while not perfect--it doe s pretty good job, and I almost always have that option on

Not sure it's cool, but it's white, so that signifies cold right? I like the look but I am not familiar with the amp Any details? It's made by a good friend of mine. I have been working with him for a few years developing prototypes. He doesn't play guitar, hence my involvement
Basically it's a 36w head, all hand-wired.
Mine has 4 EL34 valves and forget what the preamp ones are. During lockdown, he added a switch so I can knock 2 valves out, but still keep them turned on. This effectively knocks it down to 18w if I want. The amp can be quite loud, so useful at small pubs
He is quite secretive about what his 'Boost' thing is. I know it's something to do with the way the transformers interact, but that's the limit of my tech ability.
Like a lot of businesses, he struggles to get it up and running. He's not that marketing aware, so I've been helping him with that as well. We were taking one of his amps round to jams to generate interest, but obviously that's been curtailed for the moment.
OK you could say I am biased, but it's the best amp I have ever used and I have had a few. I can switch between a Les Paul and my Trussart Steelcaster without changing any of the EQ controls. The Trussart is essentially a steel bodied Tele, I could never do that with my Mesa Boogie's. I don't use pedals either, which to me, makes it more impressive.
He really needs investment
No PCBs and this is just a prototype. When he finishes them, he effectively rewires everything just a lot neater

I used my Trussart and a Les Paul without changing controls

Being able to switch guitars without changing settings would be cool I definitely have to between my Mustang & any other guitar Sounds like a great amp
