I enjoy Samurai Guitarist's YouTube channel he has done a series where he tests gimmicky guitar gadgets.
Most of these (if any) are ones I'd use. Some I've tried.
But it's fun to watch.
Maybe I'll comment on some of the gadgets as well. The E-Bow is the one I'd likely find the most useful--if it cost less.

I played in a band last year that gave me my first chance to hear an E-Bow. I'd heard a lot about them over the years, and about the third time I rehearsed with that band, the guy who was the main guitarist and singer pulled one out. He'd bought one and said he had in mind a Crowded House song we were learning, and he thought the E-Bow would be a good way of simulating the synthesizer keyboard parts. It might be something that would work over time, but it appeared to be really challenging, even for a guy who I thought of as a really accomplished guitar player.

The only thing that struck me as interesting was that first toy that he called the Hammer Jammer. I don't see that being anything more than a novelty for 99% of guitarists, but I think it might be of some value for an aspiring player with some type of permanent hand injury or unfortunate genetic trait. I used to belong to a forum where we had one guy who seemed to have stubs instead of full fingers, though I can't remember why. That Hammer Jammer would be invaluable to someone with certain types of hand disabilities, but for most players, I see it as a solution in search of a problem.

but for most players, I see it as a solution in search of a problem. Agreed. I've tried stuff like that--and it was fun to try, but I recorded some of it--and it's not something I would use. But hey--it takes all kinds. The E-Bow is also tricky to use. It definitely has a learning curve, and may not be intuitive for everybody.

The second video in Samurai Guitarist's Testing Gimmicky Guitar Gadgets series
This one offers more potentially viable gadgets than the first one--and is still fun. I have some experience with some of these--at least similar stuff any way.

My favourite one from this site might be the double picks--different than the ones I have-an old Triplet pick (Made in Italy and if you find any for sale they want a bunch of $$$-which is why I only have the one. The others in the picture below are by Stash--which no longer exists as well--btu great customer service. I bought some and they were warped (Thus the clear ones you see having something in them to hold the blades in place).--they sent me some new ones --the red ones--and a sampling of other picks as well-including the two at the bottom--double as in two picks side by side, instead of one on top of the other. The side by side ones work well if you angle them. Although these are little thinner than I like--so I don't use them too much. I also make my own patterned off the Triplet idea--after experimentation of different gauges I settled on a triangle Tortex 1 mm and a regular 1.14 Tortex pick (Blue & Purple for this keeping score) I hold them together with double sided foam tape. They aren't as far apart as the double picks int he video--and not as spongy--which I like---but I wouldn't mind trying those ones as well.

I do have some coloured strings--btu I got black ones to go with a guitar that has some black hardware I haven't put them on yet--so I don't know if I'll like them.

Here's another picture of the Triplet pick that shows the double blades--it's not mine--just one I found online.

This one isn't as crazy in some ways as the first two--but has some useful stuff.
And I will comment on each one: Kaki King Bridge: I'm not sure if I'd use it much, but it would be fun to try this. Chord Budd: as pointed out it is similar to a gadget in the first video--I didn't like the other one, and I don't think I'd like this one. Maybe someone could use it? Maybe. Piranha Bow: not quite my thing, the sound did not appeal to me. I get what they're trying to do, I just think they didn't quite get there. Finger Stretcher: I find things like this of little or no use, and they could potentially cause issues. Early on my guitar teacher taught me an exercise to develop co-ordination in my fingers, and I found that helped with stretching as well--withotu actually risking injury. I still do the exercise. Guitar Wing: This could be a cool idea-although maybe not my style. And there does seem to be some need for some upgrades or changes--as the execution isn't quite there. But cool idea. Big Pick: Noit a gadget really, but more cool thing. This is the one I'd be most likely to buy-it would fit in nicely with my pick collection. I have looked up the page--and the pick is $19 (US) and the custom printing is $7. Tempting, maybe in the new year.

I thought the “altoids amp” from the second video was interesting. I agree I’ve seen many videos on making them yourself & I have thought about trying it

Some comments & thoughts: Harpad: Kind of cool, but I have a 12 string. And it doesn't make sense to me price wise, maybe it would to someone else.
Chordinero: It odes seem to work, and I can see some people doing cool stuff with one, but it's not something I'd be likely to use. Although I would try it if I had the chance.
Guitar-Jo: Hmm, a no from me. I don't like the sound--it sounds fake. You'd be better off to get a six string banjo/guitjo/banjitar.
Submarine Pickup: Could be cool for some stuff, especially if you are into experimental stuff. It certainly has its uses.
Guitar Shirt: I was tempted to get one--and I still might if I saw a better price on one. Just for fun--not to be taken seriously.
overall one of the more useful offerings in this series. While most of this isn't my thing, I can see how some could get good use for most of them. So no complaint about these--just probably not for me.
Other than the shirt--for fun.
