well, since this thread has gone so far from it's original post, we might as well turn it into a "Blues" thread. here's a good one to listen to. While I have nothing against this being a Blues thread, I don't think it's gone "So far" from the original post--which states: & Every video/song I've shared is part of my answer to that question. I listen to blues music a lot, and a number of years ago after discovering a weekly blues show on the radio I have expanded my appreciation of blues music--and gained many new influences & inspirations Some of which I have shared--with more to share. And I continue to be inspired & influenced by newer discoveries, whether they are more recent songs, or older ones I've recently found. That said--sure, if people wish to post random blues songs--cool. I may find new inspirations or influences.

This one inspires me to play with some horn players--as well as influence in phrasing & feel (& more)

I discovered Otis Rush via a local blues radio show way back when--and Eric Clapton I don't remember when I first heard him--but both f them & this song has been an influence on me. Of the three Yardbirds guitarists who went on to bigger things (Clapton, Beck & Page)--each one has taken a turn being a bigger influence than the others. Clapton is the only one I've seen live though.

This makes me want to start u[p a blues duo (And before the pandemic that was a possibility--but that's on hold, and we wouldn't have been this good)

Well the video title is a bit misleading--mostly it's Albert, BB & Freddie an date 60s/early 70s white guys, but still a good watch:

And now for something completely different. I came across these guys a while back & I have to say--I like it... I enjoy playing covers that are different styles than the original--whether a similar, but different genre, completely different one--change the tempo or feel, etc, etc.

I read a short bio on Skip James a few years ago. His life reads like something a depressed alcoholic hack would write to sell a dime store novel.
I guess his life history explains the haunting, tragic tones in this song. Chris Thomas does a good job covering Skip`s most well known song IMHO.

I've posted this somewhere before, but can't remember just where. so, I'll post it again. Skip James played mostly in open D minor(D A D F A D). here's a friend of his explaining the tuning.
