I currently have a HK Tubemeister 18 and a Eganter Rebel 20. I also have a small Orange Crush 12 which the clean channel IMHO is amazing. I'm looking at a Orange Crush Pro 120, Rocker 15, or an OR15H. The Pro is 120w and I really don't need that much, but since it's a SS that shouldn't be an issue playing at a lower volume. If I get one the Rebel 20 will most likely go along with the Crush 12.

I'm not familiar with Orange amps, but I've heard nothing but good about them. however, that being said, I have a solid state amp that can't stand up to my Les Paul with mini-humbucker pickups. my old Gibson tube amp handles it perfectly. just something to consider.

DIY ? the old Gibson ? it was bought brand new in 1966. it was Gibson's answer to the Vox AC-15. it has 2 EL84 tubes in it. the Gibson GA-15RVT was equipped with Reverb(RV) and tremolo(T).

Just seeing this now. I had an Orange AD30 (the twin channel version) and matching 2x12. Great amp. I only got rid of it because I decided to scratch a longstanding Vox AC30 itch and didn't need both amps.
Page has been using the single channel AD30 since he did that thing with the Black Crowes so that should tell you all you need to know about the quality of Orange amps.

I still have the AC30.
I had the Orange AD30 and got rid of it to grab a Vox AC30 because I had long wanted one, and because it has an effects loop which the Orange does not have.

I have one of the first Tiny Terror Heads bought in 2006 and also a Dual Terror Head bought in 2009. Great amps. I never use pedals, just go straight into amps and they are superb. Due to their age, I mainly use the Dual Terror as a backup to my main amp, made by a friend. Only use the Terror if I play with some 'folkies'.
I used the Dual Terror when we recorded our album. This is the clean-ish tone I got using an R0
This is it when we did a live local TV show in 2013, although mainly playing harmonica
Same show, with a more gainy sound

WOW !!! that's great, John. it's like y'all never lost s "step". how long did y'all originally play together ? and how long was it before y'all got back together ? for those that don't know, our friend John is the one playing the Les Paul.
oh, great harp playing, by the way.

Cheers Brent, a short bio
I formed the band in 63, having played in various instrumental groups. We were very popular in South Wales and Germany in the years 1963-69. From our early practices at the St. John the Bosco Hall, on Cromwell Road in Newport, through supporting bands such as The Who at Coed Eva Community College in 1966, to playing nightclubs such as the Star Club, Top Ten & Crazy Horse in Hamburg, we achieved an almost cult status. In that period, we supported many well-known groups including: Billy Fury, Chicken Shack, Stu James & the Mojos, Georgie Fame & Blueflames, David Bowie, Gene Vincent, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, Manfred Man, Marty Wilde, The Applejacks, The Hollies, The Merseybeats, The Moody Blues, The Nashville Teens, The Pretty Things, The Searchers and The Who. When the band eventually ran out of steam in the late 60's, members went on to join bands such as David, Judas Jump and The World of Oz.
We reformed in 2013 to celebrate 50 years since we started. Initially we were just going to go out for a meal and a drink or two, but I suggested we play a gig. We did that and been playing ever since, although the band has reduced in size from 10 down to 7, with usually just 5 or 6 playing.

Man, John’s band got so close, I’ll bet he’s got a ton of stories from that era. John, can you tell us a little more about the LP in the lower pic and do you still have the guitars you played from back then?

Cheers Bill. Yes, I have a lot of stories, so much so I managed to write a book in 2013. Hasn't made me a fortune, but the time writing it was great.
The LP I played in all those videos was a Custom Shop 1960 Reissue in Iced Tea. It's a 2010 model and bought it new early 2011. While I don't really have a favourite guitar, that one seems to get more plays than my others.
Unfortunately I don't have any of my guitars from the 60s, from the BRoadway I started with in the band, the Guild Slim Jim I had later and a pre CBS Strat, I stupidly sold in 1980

Those are awesome pics, straight out of the amps to your ears. Was it mostly play straight out of your amps back then?

Was it mostly play straight out of your amps back then? For most of us yes, apart from the 'Shadow' days when we played their instrumentals. I used a Watkins Copycat echo as I couldn't afford a Binsen. When we stopped playing Shadows songs, I just went straight into an amp and have done soever since. Always hated pedals as they just muddy up the sound. We messed about with Apache at a rare practice session. Just straight into amp with cockups as well
