I have two cups I drink my coffee out of. One is my "work" cup and the other is my "home" cup. Once and a while at home I use another cup, that's because I'm too lazy to walk downstairs and get my other cup. I clean them at least once every 6 months. Rest of the time it's rinsed out with hot water. Ha!! I do the same thing, sometimes I’ll leave my work cup in my van, next morning I grab the home cup because I don’t want to walk out to the van. There have been times I’ve had 3 or 4 of them in there. My wife puts a stop to it before we run out of cups.

Anyone else use a hand grinder or am I the only cheap schmuck? I like burr grinders, but can't justify the 30 for an automatic one.

I remember years ago, you could go into an A & P grocery store and smell coffee being ground.

I bought a grinder because a few friends of mine said you could taste the difference. I got one and couldn't taste the difference.
But then I just buy generic guitar strings too, and they work fine for me! When all else fails, lower your expectations.

We had a drip machine for years. When we went to Florida 5 years ago, they had a Keurig in the condo. We fell in love with it and bought one shortly after we got home. We really like dark roast coffee and right now we’ve been using the Kirkland Pacific Bold dark roast which is pretty much the same as the PC West Coast dark roast that we had been previously drinking but it’s much cheaper.
I used to drink 4 or 5 a day when I was working but I’ve now cut back to 2-3 a day.

We have one at my office and every now and then I run into one at a hotel.

years ago, I bought a little 4-cup coffee maker made by Norelco. I now use one made by Hamilton. it makes just enough for me to have 2 cups. the last couple of years, I've been getting coffee from home(Baton Rouge). it's Community Coffee, a French roast. mmm good.

I had Burger King coffee this morning. I had to be at the VA this morning at 7:00am for an MRI. so no breakfast before hand. so, the wife and I stop at Burger King and grabbed some food.

Burger King has coffee? Up here in Canuckistan, we’ve got Tim Hortons and McDonalds (McCafe) as our main coffee places. Sure there’s Starbucks ($$$), Wendy’s and A&W but Timmies and Mickey D are the ones that get the most business. Wife and I prefer McCafe as we find Tim Hortons to be very weak.

Is tea allowed- I'm not a fan of coffee! sure. no problem. I'm just trying to give us a table to gather around to have an off topic place to meet. it's kind of an offshoot from the MLP forum.
so, how are you today ?

I'm great, thanks. Just tested negative for covid (again) and I'm ready to head into PA this weekend to see my friend- who just had covid 3 weeks ago, so he's clean now.
How's everything with you?

I'm finally off from work. I work part-time at Home Depot. I've been there for 5 years now and I'm one of the Head Cashiers. I worked 5 days straight. so, I'm now off for 3 days. I retired from a full-time job back in 2017 after 24+ years. I kept the HD job however. the pay is good and I enjoy it.
edit: gotta go charge up the battery on my computer. be back in a little while.

I could see myself liking to work at Home Depot in retirement, but the concrete floors would be murder on my knees. But I've got quite a few years before I can retire anyway

But I've got quite a few years before I can retire anyway yep, the concrete floors are murder. since you haven't heard the story, I was working on July 4th, 2019. everything was going ok until I turned to go help someone with a problem at a cash register just behind me. my right foot got caught in the fatigue mat on the floor by the register. down I went. I broke my right femur. the ambulance took me to the VA Hospital. I now have a rod and 4 screws in my leg. so, after a hernia repair and the broken leg, I'm finally back to work. so, yes those concrete floors are murder.

My last job before I retired was running the warehouse in a flooring store. I was on my feet constantly except for the times I had to drive one of the forklifts. I didn't find the concrete floors to be particularly tough. Many of the people around me were constantly telling me to put on knee pads because I spent lots of time kneeling on the concrete when I was doing carpet and lino cuts, but it never bothered me. I used to bend the rules by constantly wearing sneakers, which I think helped. The one two year period that I was being pushed to follow the rules about wearing steel-toed boots was the only time I ever found myself footsore.
The one thing I used to hear from Home Depot employees is that they were required to wear back-braces. I guess maybe it minimized the number of back injuries sustained by employees, but it was one of the reasons I never wanted to work there.

I've been there for 5 years now and nothing has ever been said about wearing a brace. things must have changed before I started. however, safe lifting. team lifting is encouraged. we have those "reminder" classes at least once a year.

So, I'm a night owl, and most of my posts will be late night--through to past midnight. If I'm up early it's because I have something to do early--so I wouldn't be here--but I can join in any way.
Of course sometimes that means I'm too tired at that point to log in.

Maybe back braces are a Canadian workman’s compensation thing to prevent workplace injuries. I’ve seen some people at both HD and Lowe’s wearing them here in Ontario. Usually they are the ones working in the lumber, flooring and windows & doors where they may have to lift heavier items.
