I fried up a bunch of burger patties and frozen potato patties earlier. So, I had a burger at noon....beef patty, potato patty and cheese slice on a toasted bagel.

Some friends arranged for us to get some Wendy's without having to go out & get it ourselves. I've had a craving for some--and it's been a while since I had some fast food.

Just some coffee and toast this morning. Didn’t get much sleep last night as my stomach started acting up around 2:30am and so I got up for a little while. I finally got back to bed around 4:30. Feeling better but didn’t want to eat much.

Blueberry muffins were on sale last night when I got groceries, so that was breakfast this morning. I had to restrain myself...They were good enough that I could have eaten them all at one sitting.

Man I haven't had Wendy's in ages... It’s been a few years for me too! We used to have one around the corner from where I worked and in the summer we’d walk over for lunch every once in a while. It’s coming up to 2 years now since I left.

It’s coming up to 2 years now since I left. In general it is very rare that I get fast food at all nowadays. I do admit I like it, especially Taco Bell (the shame of it! ), but I have to say that in recent years the prices have increased to the extent that I don't find it really a good value anymore. If I am going to pay $10 for lunch there are better options

I peeled some potatoes to boil for supper. This is the first time I may have had them on hand too long, because when I peeled them, there were dark mottled spots that didn't look quite right. I peeled them down far enough that all the dark spots are gone, but I'm still feeling queazy about whether I should eat them, or just throw them and all the ones left in the fridge away and find something else to munch on. This is one of the reasons I hate dealing with fresh food....When I pull something frozen out of the freezer, I never have to worry about stuff like this.

Never done that (Cooked ones, yes) I've heard it makes them go bad. But maybe you've done that all your life & it worked out? But if you've cut off all the dark spots it should be fine--as long as they aren't green. (And I rarely peel potatoes--they taste better cooked with he peel--and yes I eat the peel as well.--unless I am cutting off parts like spell mentioned)

(And I rarely peel potatoes--they taste better cooked with he peel--and yes I eat the peel as well.--unless I am cutting off parts like spell mentioned) Well, I just started cooking potatoes a few weeks ago for the first time, so this is all new to me. It hadn't even occurred to me that maybe they could be stored outside the fridge. And, I have so little room here, I'm damned if I can figure out where else to store them. Anyway, thanks for the reassurance......I'm going to try eating them - They're not green and looked fairly normal after I pared them down.
I'm still not sure about eating the skins though. From what I've read online, there are elements to the skins that the human body has trouble digesting. And, I've gotten in the habit of peeling vegetables and melons because, even after they're washed, there can still be traces of the chemicals used when they're grown that I really don't want to consume. I've read very strongly worded warnings about this particularly with watermelons, because most melons are now grown in China and it's said that Chinese farms are a lot less careful about chemical use. Maybe stuff grown in North America isn't as bad, but peeling still seems like good food health hygiene.

Potato peels are fine to eat. They are chock full of vitamins and stuff! Hell, they sell potato skins in restaurants and I’ve never gotten sick from them. Just wash em down to get any remaining dirt off of them. The smaller red and gold potato’s are usually pretty clean and with their smooth skins, they can be washed very easily before boiling.
Yes like Zontar said, don’t store them in the fridge. When you go grocery shopping, you’ll notice certain fruits and veggies that aren’t kept refrigerated. They can be kept unrefrigerated for quite some time. Potatoes are one of these things. We keep ours on a pantry rack in the basement but they can also be kept in your kitchen cabinets (ie: under the kitchen sink).

Carrots I will peel them if I get carrots at the store, as the peel gets tough. If they are garden fresh--then I don't (Especially local-and sometimes we grow them.)

We store our potatoes in the fridge- I'd be surprised if it makes them go bad more quickly, but they don't last that long with 5 people eating them. I also generally eat the peels but if you don't want to, just discard them!

Nice to have a night off food prep.
