There are a few that will probablyk be changed out. like Losing My religion, and I me me mine. Just need a few more songs for spares and to get the bassist practiced on his 3, and we're ready to go. And yes, it's pretty, uhm, full, of overplayed songs but this area likes that sort of thing for some reason lol This is a starting set list. Hopefully we'll be adding a song a week. set 1 can't you see Marshall Tucker tweeter and the monkey man, Traveling Willburys After Midnight EC empty suits LL ocean pearl, 54-50 last dance with mary jane Tom Petty wild thing The Troggs race the moon LL love myself today biff naked keep your hands to yourself Georgia Satellites house of the rising sun Whiskey Makes Me Wild LL set 2 let's work together canned heat Keep on Rockin in the Free world Neil Young la grange ZZ Top Tired, LL kryptonite 3 doors down wish I had me a dollar JJ Cale Shit list L7 what it is you do to me LL all along the watchtower dylan hate myself for loving you Joan Jett Breakdown Tom Petty Time LL set 3 these boots are made for walkin, Nancy Sinatra hip shake Joan Osborne Losing my religion REM endless war LL seven nation army, White Stripes hard to handle Black Crowes I me me mine Beatles winter's soul LL Bad Reputation Joan Jett tube snake boogie ZZ Top cover of the rolling stone Dr Hook whisper LL

I think that if I can learn a couple more tom petty tunes that aren't already so overplayed it will be a good thing. though breakdown isn't overplayed as much as mary jane

I Won't Back Down is okay...but may be over-covered as well. It's got a Traveling Wilbury's vibe. The guy nicks so much from Dylan he should give him credit as co-writer.

I can't do i wont' back down. though i wish i could. great song when i play tweeter everyone asks, "is that tom petty?" even though ti's credited to all of them, It has dylan's story telling flair in it for sure. so obviously someone has learned a thing or two from someone else. lol

I kind of resent him for that. Can't hep myself. I thought he was out of his league as far as The Wilbury's..at first I thought "wtf? Tom Petty with these other guys.?" But he's incorporated so much of Dylan's schtick I guess it makes sense. Mainly his delivery.

Pretty good set-list. I am not a big petty fan for a lot of reasons. One of the reasons is the similarities with Dylan as frigg eluded to, but mostly, I just can't stand the sound of his voice.

He's made the style more accessible, I will say that. But can't cop the substance Dylan brings to a song. 'Cept for 'Dirty World' that is.

Color me green Lyrica - that's a great 3 set list. And bill you're not invited to any of my gigs - I sing through my nose just like Tom I do a KILLER version of 'Listen To Her Heart' easy song - I wanted to do 'American Girl' for the climbing D position chord, but it's just out of my range.

thanks Melvindale i'm having to put a couple of the songs on the back burner as i can't seem to get the hang of htem. the bad reputation by joan jett, and i love myself today seem to be out of my reach for the moment though neither seems truly hard. i've replaced them with a couple of green day songs..... to try out. boulevard of broken dreams, and when i come around. two pretty popular songs and more recent than a lot of the stuff and a couple of other changes ar e happening as well. switching out two of my originals for two different ones. anyway, nothing is quite written in stone yet. we have to master these songs as a band first lol we've tried most of them and they work, but the third set and a couple of the originals have yet to be tried as a group

Put it around third or fourth in your second set, when everyone's had a couple and has loosened up ... the sultry groove will do the rest of the work.

Suit yourself, just speaking from my own experiences. oh i'm sure you're right about the song. I just don't think I'm doing it justice which is why I'm probablyk going ot ditch it. We'll try it a few more times to be sure about it, but our groove is usually uncertain on it, and my vocals, well, unless they get better on that song I'll be finding something more to my abilities

there are still a few iffy ones. Like angel eyes. I'd like to drop that one. thta woudl leave us with 38 assuming we can do "i can't dance" that ron wants to try and sing if not, 37 will be pretty good. 12, 12, 13 and we do them well. we've had other musicians who heard us play in the beginning come up to us and say we're getting really good

Grind and time, that's what make the unit as a whole better. We wasted a year trying to fit in a second guitarist. The thought process was that it would free me up to play the leads and color the songs better. Problem was that we could not find a guy that could play and had a head on his (or her) shoulders. We had some guys come in and could blow you away in a chair but when it came to playin with others they sucked. Anyway, we gave up on that. It was things like that along with the occasional member change that always had us off balance. I guess the point I'm trying make is that the longer you keep the unit together with no changes the tighter you will get.

I just like being a trio. i mean there are times i wish i had a second rhythm instrument,b ut i can't make up my mind if i would want another guitar or keys. i see uses for each of them in various places in a night, but not for either all the way through. so so far we just go as we are. and peeps are telling us we're getting tight. good musicians telling us this so i'm sure you're rigth. adding a fourth now will add time to the groove machine
