Don't know much about Gibson basses. I have seen a lot of folks playing the firebird bass, I just assumed it must be a decent bass.......not?

I know nothing about bass. Fun? They are fun to dink around with if your a guitar player. It's a whole different animal. My wife is a great bass player. I'll pick up her bass and start noodling and then it's "no no no, try this" and she will show me a secret or two. It's easy to separate a guitar player playing a bass (me) and a real bass player, huge difference. But it's still fun to goof off on one. Also helps with a little creativity. I think all guitar players should have a bass laying around but don't act like you know what your doing in front of a real bass player....just say'in

When I played one, the feel never said 'bass'.... Didn't like the tone either....especially that stubby little EB-0 Thud Bass... Well, it didn't have tone....

Should drop in here more often as I'm a bass player at heart. Never was a fan of Gibby basses. Just didn't like the sound & they always looked mingin' apart from the Thunderbird which I liked (& have the Epi version, Ssh). That is a sweet looking bass Edro. You had a chance to play it yet?

If you told me before then I've forgotten & sorry about that. Most of my mates who are guitar players have a wee four string squib stoatin' around the place & love a good old noodle on them. I've played six string guitars in quite a few bands over the years but would never consider myself a guitarist. More a hobbyist. I get found out easy. Have in the past some guy trying to impress me with mad licks & fingers all over the place, "Guitar player eh?" shoulders sink & a dejected, "Um, aye pfft" But saying that there are a few rare beasts who stride with ease from one disciple to the other...Fuckin' hate them.

Not yet... I hope to before long.... Been looking at a certain older Squier too that was only made a couple of years before Fender kaboshed them because they ate into the main brand market.... One day I'll wrap hands around that Gibson bass...

I have a '14 EB4 that's my main player in standard tuning. The pups sound great to me. I don't use it in single mode. Don't like the sound. I've been meaning to rewire the p/p to series/parallel.

I’ve never seen an EB4. I’m used to the old SG styled EB short scale basses. That there is a nice looking bass.
