Apart from the Schaffer Replica, which I bought while drunk (but don't regret), I've not paid much attention to pedals since I got into electric guitar. While doing a lesson, my teacher said I should try putting an overdrive in front of my amp to fatten up the tone at low volumes for practicing and, well, that started some PAS.
While checking out YouTube reviews, I stumbled across the Joyo Ironman series of nano pedals, which are tiny. I ordered a few to check them out and they're fun.
I got the tuner, the Green Legend OD, the Blue Rain OD, the Quattro Delay and the Raptor Flanger, as well as the Rowin Nano Looper.
Considering how small they are, they feel pretty solid and they sound alright for my needs as I explore different sounds.
I'll snap some photos later.

Here's the Nano Looper. The guitar pick and sunglasses are for scale.

I've never looked at the small Joyo pedals but their normal sized ones get good reviews.
Then there is the whole kerfuffle that erupted at The Gear Page after some boutique pedal maker started changing a value or two, gooping them, repainting them, and selling them for a few hundred dollars each. Th cork sniffers loved the allegedly boutique pedals and many simply wouldn't admit that they had been had after the truth came out.

They sound pretty decent to me, both in demos and in my living room, so I'm happy. These Ironman series ones aren't as cheap as the regular Joyo ones, but they are stronger and better-constructed. I ordered a couple of the regular Joyo pedals from Amazon, but sent them back and went for the minis.

I'm not really one for using pedals. Once in a while I experiment a little but that usually doesn't last long. I do need to get more into using them though as they can be necessary for some sounds. When I do I plan to use inexpensive Joyo clones of better known pedals just to save money unless, of course, I can find the real ones at good prices. If the Joyos get me close to the sounds of the real ones I can either keep them or use them as inexpensive testers before putting out money on the real models.
Since I have the same amp I am interested to hear what you think of the pedals you have when paired with your YGL-1.

There is absolutely no telling just how many different things Joyo (or the factory that builds Joyo) has built for other names...

Alright, I set up a little pedalboard. I got this Donner board, with a gig bag, for pretty cheap online (Amazon.ca, I think). Same with the power supply. So now I have the tuner, two ODs, the Schaffer, the flanger, then the delay. I've added the Looper right before the amp The two button switch is for the amp and isn't part of the chain. One is a DB boost and the other is the reverb defeat. The YGL1 also has an effects loop, so I could go into the amp from the Schaffer (or Schaffer-->Looper-->Amp) and then put the delay and flanger in the effects loop. But I need another cable. Speaking of cables, I need to pick up some zip ties for cable management on the underside of the board.

Definitely put your modulation pedals through the loop and any drive type pedals in front of the amp.
I can see myself using one or two flavours of overdrive, a delay pedal, and maybe a looper. A pedalboard like yours would be perfect for my purposes.

I just spent the past hour noodling over a blues shuffle backing track I made on the looper. That was fun as shit. As I get better with the looper (and get better as a player) I have the feeling I'm going to really enjoy this.
The two different flavours of OD are nice and I can get several different sounds depending on which one I use, how I set it and which pickup I'm on. I have the green set for just a mild breakup, while blue pushes a little harder. Then swapping between pickups and kicking on the Schaffer lets me make a lot of different sounds. I had the YGL1 at about 3 with the LP and a clean sound, then these pedals give me a nice fat tone over that. On Brit, I had just a touch of hair going without the pedals, but with the Schaffer on, while on US mode, things were predictably cleaner. On Pure mode, it was noticeably louder and I got the evil eye. I had the controls all at 12 o'clock.
The flanger is interesting, although I'm not likely to use it much. I can't quite remember why I decided I wanted it, but I'll keep it around for a while. These pedals are small enough and cheap enough that I could grab another if I wanted. There are still a couple of ports on the power supply and I could fit a couple more of these on the board above the Schaffer.
The delay is cool, so far, although there are still a ton of settings to explore. In general, I can see this little setup making for some good times. Even though they were in front of the preamp, I was still pleased with the delay. I'll get another cable so I can run them in the effects loop and see how that goes.
That said, I really like the looper. Just being able to layer multiple little parts together to make a track is a lot of fun.
The nice thing about this little rig is that it's compact. It fits under my little table where I keep my amp. Not bad for seven effects and a footswitch!

Colchar this was my thread about the Ironman pedals. I've rearranged things on my board a bit (I'll try to remember to post a new pic) and I picked up a SoloDallas Storm, which is just like the Schaffer Replica, but reengineered with more adjustments and a smaller footprint. It fits great on my miniboard and gives me some more room. I'm considering adding another couple of those mini Ironman pedals just for fun. Maybe the compressor and a wah or something. That said, I often use the Schaffer Replica if I don't feel like pulling out the whole board. Guitar--->Schaffer Replica Pedal--->Traynor YBA-1 sounds fucking fantastic. I get the Ironman pedals from here: www.musicexpresscanada.com/He ships quickly and so far I haven't had any issues, even though the website isn't the greatest.
