I love my J-45 TV, but have been wanting to add a smaller body 00/000/OM to my collection. This would be a guitar I could take up to the cottage, to a friend's place or just sit around and play that was a little smaller and more comfortable than the Gibson jumbo body, but still sound good for a variety of strumming, picking and fingers. I tried many guitars and even ordered and returned two different Recording King models from Amazon. But there was this Eastman E10OM I played at the 12th Fret in Toronto that kept calling to me. Over the course of a few months, I probably went there a half a dozen times to play it until I finally just went for it. It had been there for a while, as the serial number seems to be from 2013, but that didn't bother me. I've found Eastman is not quite so well known in Toronto yet, so no surprise they don't move very quickly. This is one sweet guitar. Fit and finish are very good and I love the feel of the ebony fingerboard. It's got that punch of the hog/adi combo which I guess my ears like, since I now have two guitars with those woods. It sings sweetly on single notes and can strum like a champ, even when I really go at it. I don't find it gets boxy, it just gets louder. I love the sound and it is different from my J-45, giving a nice variety. It had a touch of shop wear, but nothing I wouldn't do to it in a few weeks anyway, plus, there was a promo for 10% off. When I showed it to my brother, he couldn't believe the price after playing it for a few minutes. They gave me a pickguard, which I found a bit big, so I trimmed it. It's a bit rough around the edges, so I've ordered another one that will hopefully do the trick as I can't find a Tor-tis one online that will ship here. Stewmac has Tortoloid, which looks interesting, so I might go that way. Anyway, enough bla bla bla, here are some pics.

Damn, having a hard keeping up with the new geeters flowing in here lately. Cool looking guitar man, never tried one of those myself.

Damn, having a hard keeping up with the new geeters flowing in here lately. Cool looking guitar man, never tried one of those myself. Thanks, man. They really do make a nice guitar. They have some interesting clones of Martin and Gibson styles, but with a sound that is very much their own. And the Eastman sound is quite good in its own right. I played a Martin 000-18 while I was confirming my GAS on this one and I actually preferred the sound on this one. The Martin was nicer in terms of fit and finish, lighter construction and such, but the sound just wasn't quite as lively and punchy as this guy. Perhaps that was due to the Adirondack top vs. Sitka, although of course the bracing is also probably different. I am very pleased with the sound of this one, that's for sure. I would've paid more than what I did for this sound and quality, but I'm glad I didn't have to.
