It's taken WAY longer than it should have, but here's the near-finished amp! I just have to glue a few pieces on the back and it's done! Sounds great! He's at a friend's house tonight, so he won't get to play it till he gets home.

So....what are the goodies that are powering the amp? What's it got in it? Tube or solid state? Which speakers?

It's more or less a straight up 5f2, but with a choke and a lower preamp voltage. It has an oversized OT from Allen and drives a pair of WGS 10" Veterans. Sounds amazing. He only wanted the high input, so we singled up, and I used a better ground scheme. I had the kid solder as much as he could, and he helped with the cab gluing/finish. I didn't turn him loose on the table saw. It's got the good stuff- 1w Carbon films and F&T/Spragues and all the other goodies. Nothing exotic, but nothing cheap.

5f2-a, I should say, with the choke being from the 5f2 circuit. It has higher screen voltage and less noise than a dropping resistor. I really like it. I used a 33k where the 22k dropping resistor to the preamp and lowered the voltage to the ECC83 from 205 to 170vdc.
