I got my hands on a little behringer mixer, but it has no onboard effects. Unlike it's bigger brothers. (though reviews say it's bigger brothers effects are noisy anyway)
anyone got any cheap recommendations for fx processors for vox that could get me through half a year before i need to spend money on an upgrade?

Take a look at the Behringer digital effects rack units... Big Bang for little chippies!
I used that Behringer 3D Virtual whateverthehellitis effects unit and really liked it. In my rack at the house... If I didn't like it, it would have been river food....
Check Craigslist and FleaBay for used.... I would love to have a used Quadraverb... Had em in my soundman rack some years back and loved em... Amazing if you ain't afeared of tweaking...
Lot of good units out there fairly cheap... Yamaha, etc... It doesn't have to be this morning's technology to sound good anyway...
Hell, I liked Microverbs too... Ain't no rule against a 31 or 15 band eq in the effects loop chain after a cheap dig rev... Might be surprised at what you can do with few chippies....
