I think alcohol was a factor in some of the bans. I asked to be banned from the Marshall forum because they locked a thread of mine on U.F.O. Night Crawlers which I experienced first hand back in 2012. Then they also banned me from from EverythingSG for no apparent reason. I still belong to a few other forums bur this forum seems to work fine for me. BWT I haven't had a drink in about a month and I'm feeling much better now. Nobody gives a flying shit about your forum "rap sheet" here. So if you want to start threads on UFO night crawlers, Sasquatch sightings, haunted houses or any wierd experiences you may have had, nobody gives a shit and you won't be judged. This bunch will have their fun with any thread. You have landed in the right place. We do draw the line at discussing cake though. Not because we have anything against cake, but because Edro has a deeply warped, and quite frankly perverse, affinity for it. Because of that we try to minimize discussion of cake whenever we can. We do like to talk about pies though

That LPC is giving me a stiffy. I've had it a long time, 1976. Bought used as a teen. Have nearly all of the original hardware. Lucky it is still in one piece. Just before straplocks were available, my carelessness resulted an injury some 42 years ago. Not once, but twice (on separate occasions) the strap came undone, resulting in the headstock hitting a hard floor. I was a dumb kid. The second time left a mark. Much like an earthquake fault, the wood grain shifted causing a strip of finish to shed, just like a can opener was dragged down the middle. Tectonic plate separation on a micro scale. How the Lester survived that is beyond me. The volute maybe? It plays great and stays in tune quite well. I fell for DiMarzio marketing and put two PAFs in it in '78. In 2018 I wanted to hear what the original T-Tops actually sounded like. Well what do you know, I liked them better. I had the opportunity to play an actual '59 Standard at a guitar show in November 2019. Loved the tone from my familiar AmPlug2 and headphones. Compared the sound to my T-top Custom. I wanted that '59 tone. More bell like clarity with a defined neck pickup. Still had the DiMarzio PAFs with their original packaging, warranty card stubs and a sales receipt. I knew James at www.re-wind.net/index.html from a pots and caps purchase and several conversations about pickups too. He is a collector of many things guitar. Long story short, I traded the DiMarzios for a set of his PAF-1s. Magnificent pickups with amazing definition. I actually like the neck pickup for the first time ever, not muddy but well defined. One of the '73 gold covers went on the ReWind neck pickup because Jimmy Page and I like the balanced look. I surely got the better deal out of the trade. Added a Faber ABR-1 locking bridge to replace the healthy, but in comparison shaky Gibson. The Faber fixed some tuning stability issues nicely. I was a top wrapper from way back, so the Gibson ABR-1 had not collapsed.

Name: Infant Rank: Retired Serial#: sorry, it’s been scratched off as I was once stolen.
I received an email last night from Brent (Sgt Rock) telling me to check this place out. I see a number of names from the old Gibson Talk forum....John Reardon, SAGuitar (Stan) among others. This should be fun!

Oh yeah, I'm a new dude here too! But not new to guitars, I've owned one Les Paul for about 44 years now, and working on learning to play it. For a couple of decades it was my only electric guitar so it got some serious abuse through hundreds of gigs. But now Lester is kinda semi-retired since the stable includes about 20 other guitars to share the load.
For the last 20+ years I've been "just" a church musician, which is a big challenge and I'm still loving it. We don't really play "live" anymore since the Covid thing came down but we do get to rehearse, and play live stream every week so it's keeping my active.
Stay tuned, Stan
