there's a local guy who is good at electronics. he's wanting to build custom made amps and he wants to endorse me. He'd give me 2 of them once we worked out enough of the bugs in the prototype so that everything else was simply tweaking.... and i'd shill for him. wish he had time and money to start on it now... but then, I won't be playing out till february most likely anyway so i have time to hope

fenderish more than marshallish. I am not a fan of the marshall sound these days, but honestly a long as it's got a good clean and can pump when pushing air, i make up everything else out of my fx processor anyway lol

That's damn cool. Nice one. Make sure when cranked up all those in the front row need seat belts just to stay on there feet.

I hear whit yer saying...at least I think I can. Ummm.
Only way I could get a right good sound out of my amps on stage was to play damn LOUD! Got so much grief from the PA guys...Yer too loud this & too loud that. Muppets! Horrible wet fart of a sound when I turned them down.
I do need hearing aids it has to be said...wish that was a joke.

well, i figure if i use a low wattage amp like 30 watts. i should be able to push air with the speaker without blowning ear drums, my 40 watt fender has too much juice to turn it up enough to push the air

Should point out that I'm coming at it from the bass player point of view as opposed to the guitar playing side. Never had a prob on stage being heard then much to the disgust of the singers...tee hee. Good.

thanks Thump. I figure I may invest in the company if he does good work. so I'll be shilling for my own company lol. though I'm not sure if that's cool or not? what's the consensus on that?

thanks Bill and Catfish. I think it will really depend on how the guy manages himself and his business and how good his amps really are. if they suck well.... lol but i'm hopeful as he's really good usually, with this sort of thing

What color? <lol> I've come up with some pretty cool amp colors/patterns on Jamup. Will you recommend things like tweed vs tolex? Or unusual color scheme?

i have no idea i hadn't even considered that. although now that you mention it, a violet, or hot pink would be pretty cool!

An amp manufacturer was using a black/dark red tolex color scheme a few years ago that looked pretty cool. Can't remember their name. But yeah, violet tolex would be cool and stand out. Or a burgandy/ wine color. I guess it can be found.
Another thing I thought would be cool is the soundproofing that they spray truck beds with. It.s textural and wears like..well... a truck.

ya, to be serious, a very dark red with a bit of purple in it like wine red would be pretty cool. maybe slightly lighter than that

Purple sparkle truck liner paint.... A company I worked with in the 80's built pa cabs and we sprayed that black pebbly but slick truck liner stuff on em... Tough stuff, waterproofed pretty much...

Durabak.
Good enough for the Navy, good enough for me.
Carpet is the grossest thing ever.

Nope. No carpet. Duralex would be my choice if I had my druthers. Can you buy that at a consumer level? I know the make some kind of epoxy counter top refinishing kits with cool marbleized textures. I've thought about that for a cab. I painted a concrete basement floor with the epoxy paint that you mix and it was very durable. Not so great colors though. I tinted it with acrylic with no problems.
