I'm doing well.
Getting older and not posting a lot on any of the forums I belong to. Don't have much to say, however I do visit daily or weekly. I am also not buying new/used gear, winding pickup, or building pedals (as I have a shit ton already).
Can't wait to retire in 20 years, that most likely wont happened until I'm in the urn.

Ah, you're still a young pup then. (I've been retired six years now). The GAS is gone for me too. In fact, I've been selling these past few years since covid threw asking prices way up. Cashed in and made quite a bit of profit on a few guitars/basses.

Ah, you're still a young pup then. (I've been retired six years now). The GAS is gone for me too. In fact, I've been selling these past few years since covid threw asking prices way up. Cashed in and made quite a bit of profit on a few guitars/basses. i don't gas, in the sense i think we mean it, but there are specific purchases in my future. i'll need certain pieces to do what i am planning, i'm just getting what i need. i don't plan on doing any selling of anything if i can help it. i did briefly flirt with the idea of selling the LP so i could buy a sweet magnum research s.s. 1911 with the sweetest trigger i ever squoze. if i could have sold the lp before someone else bought the pistol, i woulda done it, i think. as much as i love the ruger american i have now, the trigger is starting to annoy me. i could make some slight improvements to it, but the return vs. effort makes buying a more upscale pistol a better choice. it's not something i'm in a hurry for. but yeah, back to gear... i eventually want to make a music video with decent sound. i plan on getting what i need a piece at a time, while trying to learn what i can about using it, and doing the editing. man, i could say nearly the same thing. i post here and there on a few different forums, but not close to what i used to. as for gear, i have made some purchases this year, but those were both items that i've wanted for a decade, and the timing was right-ish. i'm glad to be working right now, and enjoying the temporary bump in pay, even though inflation eats alot of it. i don't like working for this outfit, but it's not intolerable, especially considering the remuneration. i got a real nice ride in last saturday. it was 80°F here. i'm sure it's the last day this year that will be so nice. i'm glad i was able to take advantage of it. with the new front end, i feel like i'm riding a new bike. i could've done something far more responsible with the money i spent doing it, but i gotta be honest, i don't regret doing it at all. i look forward to doing the other things i have planned.

well, sometimes, i do stuff i probably shouldn't. but sometimes, you have to do things you probably shouldn't. i mean, i really don't NEED 6 guitars. i'm waiting for delivery on a tele style, when i came across something else, just last night. for clarity:
when i bought my first guitar in 1982 or 83, i saved for weeks and weeks to buy it. i skipped lunch, didn't buy weed or alcohol, didn't take my girlfriend out. i was only bringing home $70/week, and rent was $75/month to my older sister. when i had $300, i went with my brother in law, to a couple of guitar stores. he helped me choose a quality instrument at a reasonable price. when i chose one, it was between that guitar, and an sg. i don't remember what i didn't like about the sg, but this other guitar, somehow it felt right. i played living snot out of it for 2 or 3 years. no kiddin, if i had 10 minutes to spare, i was playin that guitar. i ended up in a judas priest tribute band as kk. so i needed a white vee. i traded in this guitar for a white kramer vee, with a floyd on it, when they very first came out. it was garbage. i looked for another one of the guitar i let go, for decades. 2 other times, i found one, but once i didnt have the money, and the other time, someone beat me to it. i was perusing reverb before bed, just for shits and giggles while i burnt my good night smoke. i came across someone selling a VERY close twin to the guitar i had. the price was right, so i bought it. s'posed to be here thurs night. i suspect i'll need to tweak the set up, change the strings, etc. but i am sooo looking forward to getting this guitar. it has a super distortion in the neck, and a different, split able dimarzio in the bridge. this one isn't wired to split. the switching is the only difference between what i bought, and what i had. but none of those switches worked on mine anyhow. i am very excited for the post i have coming up for this guitar.

ahhhh...christmas. it can be the happiest and saddest holiday, all at once. i grew up in a large family. when i was a little guy, my siblings used to send me downstairs before my parents woke up, on a recon mission. i would stealthily descend the stairs, and be the first to take in the breath-taking grandeur of our living room on christmas. the lights off, and the room softly lit by the bulbs on the christmas tree. massive piles of gifts under the tree, and around the perimiter of the living room. some wrapped, and some not wrapped. i would take an inventory, and go back up and deliver a report "joe got electric football" peggy got an organ!" all of it whispered as quietly as possible so as to not alert my parents in our tiny house. it was really difficult to control myself, being so little, but i was proud to have such an important role. at 7 am, my parents would drag themselves out of bed and make coffee. then they would call us all down stairs. by 9 am, the living room was 2' deep in wrapping paper, and 9 kids were so keyed up, all without any sugar at all, i can't fathom how my parents pulled it off.
at the same time, alot of people die over the holiday. lots of people go off the rails due to stress. people do some horrible things to each other over the holiday for various reasons. sometimes, aspects of our relationships can be magnified by this holiday, both good and not so good. my dad died on jan 1, 82 or 83, by a single heart attack. i've known people who were in serious accidents over the christmas holidays, people who were abused, or cheated on, or any number of terrible things.
this year was not different in our family. normally we do christmas at my ex's place. my sons go there, and my oldest brings his kids and his woman, the younger son comes (begrudgingly, because he doesn't want to drive down state) with his woman. this year was the last one there, because the ex is building a house all the way at the lowest end of the state, and half of us are at the north end. we aren't sure what we're doing next year, but we have a bit of time to figure it out. my oldest son finally escaped his baby mama and her family. it makes things a bit more difficult for him logistically, but over all, it's a positive thing for him. his mother did a great job with dinner, she always does, despite the boys' recollection to the contrary. it's hard to screw up a pre cooked ham, but she's the only person in this world who can make baked beans that i look forward to all year. my apple cake turned out perfect this year, i guess i finally know this oven well enough now. my older son is still terrible at picking gifts for other people, but he really tries. i never let on. i always act like it's the greatest thing ever. he did better than usual this year though. even still, i couldn't be prouder of him, he tries so hard, and he does really well. he is a free thinker, and has his own style to things. my oldest grand daughter is my sweetheart. in my eyes, she's an angel from heaven, and she knows it. i make sure of that. she loves me right back, and i groove on that so hard. my grandson, mr. college boy, is an awesome guy, and it's so much fun for me, to watch the man he is becoming. he has a unique approach to being funny, that i really enjoy about him. my youngest grand daughter has autism. she is soo cute, and gentle, and her nature is so adorable i always want to hug the stuffing out of her. i can't though, because that freaks her out little. you learn to relate to her on her terms to some degree, but it's more than worth it. she is 6. i worry for her in the future, because of what i saw with her older, half sister this year. she's really no relation to me, but i always treat her like the others, and so does everyone else. you can't help but love her immediately, her heart is just as pure as spring water. she doesn't have someone helping her with her condition, so it's causing issues for her. of course we shower her with gifts and attention just like the other girls. you just couldn't stop yourself if you wanted to. this year, the love and attention was really stressful for her. she understood, and she tried soooo hard to be a good sport. she did pretty well, but watching her struggle with it was hard for me to watch. i wish there was something i could do to help her, but i don't think there is. a genie would come in handy in times like these.

My MIL passed away on my son's birthday which was 12/17. My MIL did live with us and made it a little more difficult on my wife. She is still grieving and was worse when we unwrapped all of my MIL gifts to return them.
My wife works with people ASD. Hopefully your state has a good support for people with ASD. Some states have great support and other not so much.

Losing a family member during the holidays.
That`s a rough one.
I hope that the sadness turns to fond memories as soon as possible.

I went to a good jam last night. Two really good keyboard players and one of them doubled on base. When they started up on the piano I thought these guys are not gonna want to play the government mule stuff that I do. Also a drummer and another guy on guitar. No one really had any songs so we ended up doing mine. I started just quietly playing Soulshine so they could get the chords and the melody and the keyboard guy got really into it so we worked that song up and they wanted to play it a couple of times to get it a bit better. Also did some ass kicking jazz which I like playing. Fast picking guitar on a broadcaster and the keyboard player really gettin into again it so we were tradin licks back and forth fourth on a 20 minute solo. Usually I don’t get along with keyboard players because they show up with nice little songs or sheet music for the Beatles and shit like that. These guys were really good musicians and very versatile. It was in a big hall with just six or seven of us. Well equipped. The drums were in a plexiglass booth and 4 or 5 amps as well as a nice PA. I took my broadcaster and 57 custom deluxe because I wanted to try that combination.

I guess I should’ve said government mule “kinda” stuff that I do but none of the people that I was playing with had ever heard of government mule or any other southern rock stuff yet they really liked Soulshine. Warren is also one of my favourite players along with Johnny Winter and Gary Rossington. I listen to Mule quite a bit but I only do Soulshine and their version of simple man. I’m playing Soulshine in G because it suits my voice better. Simple man in standard tuning rather than drop it down a half tone like Skynyrd did. Most of my electric stuff is the basic Skynyrd stuff along with Ray Wylie Hubbard and Calvin Russell. Also a couple of Fred Eaglesmith songs. Switched some of my Townes Van Zandt songs over to electric because they work pretty well on the fender with 10.5 gauge strings through a custom deluxe bridge pickup short cable no pedals. Acoustic is Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Blaze Foley and Jake Cox. Jake is not too well known; he’s an Appalachian player and a Marine. Plays acoustic, electric, dobro, violin, writes his own songs etc. He also does some Roscoe Holcomb songs which most people have never heard of as well as RL Burnside.

I traded my F150 in for a Trucklette back in December ... I got a 2023 Maverick Lariat Hybrid. I went from $300 a month for gas to $150. It's also the first time paying for an extended warranty. I got a Manufacture 10yr/100,000 ESP PremiumCARE for $1500.00 (100.00 deductible) which I didn't think was that bad of a gamble even though the HV Batteries have a 8yr/100,000. I really didn't use the F150 as a truck much, mostly dump runs. I do miss the room it had and that 3.5 Eco Boost with the twin turbos, but don't miss the fuel price. I had a 36 gallon fuel tank. I will eventually get another F150, but most likely the Lightning once technology and range gets better. I test drove a Lightning and it will put your ass in the seat when you get on it. I have used the Maverick to do dump runs, carry a new fridge, dishwasher, and even take a couch to the transfer station. Its small, but it's just me since my kids are older and out of the house. Also my wife has a Maverick as well and that's is one of the reason I traded the F150. I like hers and was I need one of these. I also don't have to worked up about parking.

I still have my 2010 F150. It has the small 4.6 eight and for what it is, the gas mileage isn’t too bad. Always had a truck from when I was racing and I don’t feel comfortable driving anything else. Trucks getting damn expensive now and it seems that the price of vehicles generally has doubled in the last four years.

Listening to vinyl recerds tonight first the time in a long time.
One of the things that I had sorta forgotten about them is that you have to get up and turn them over.
