I quit playing 12 months ago out of frustration with my fret hand thumb which went stiff as a board.
My own fault from bad technique and repetitively doing the same thing for too many hours/weeks/months at a time.
Fast forward 12 months...scar tissue and stiffness gone, and lesson learned.
I managed to avoid surgery.
Pulled my D-18V out of the case last night, the smell alone made my eyes roll.
The volume and tone...made me do a Homer Simpson Duff beer kinda drool...
Life without guitars sucks.
This is undeniable.

It`s amazing actually. I thought I was done like a dinner. Put all 5 of them in their cases, was talking myself into selling all but one, I guess it was 14 months ago.
It was crazy to see that in all that time my 2 Martin`s stayed in almost perfect tune. I suppose this is also telling me that the tops and necks aren`t moving when i only see one string on each guitar a little flat after that amount of time.
Really man it`s like Christmas. i`m blessed to have 3 great acoustics and a couple of descent parts casters. I still have 3 more presents to open...lol.

Kinda weird...after not playing for over a year, the way I play has changed. Of course I cannot play some of the stuff I was before, but the simple songs I`m using to get back to speed, are telling me a tale.
My right hand is...different. My strumming is more fluid and loose, and I guess faster with less effort. Left hand...well, lobster claw comes to mind on a bad day.

Right now I practice 1 to 3 hours a day, my goal is to improve my right and left hand mechanics. Sometimes I will have a couple days away and when I get back to it I find that things I was struggling with have become a little easier….. it’s weird, I can’t explain it.

Interesting...kinda the same experience.
i was working on having more snap when strumming in bluegrass mode when i messed up my fretting thumb.
Maybe that work sunk in at some point while i was in guitar jail...
