in the near future, i want to play bass. i have a bass now, but it's in need of serious repair. the knobs don't even turn. the tuning keys are junk too. it plays nice, and seems to sound ok to my untrained ear. it's a brand i never heard of, so i don't know if it's worth repairing. anyhow the point of this thread is, i don't know ANYTHING about bass gear. i need to know what i need. is this bass worth repairing or should i replace it? what should i look for, in terms of a bass amp? where would you recommend i go to learn about these things? guitar, i know about, but not bass. how do i know what i need? my guitar is played through a 40w mesa, i would like my bass amp to be loud enough to keep up with it, and still sound good. i would like to not spend gobs of money, but i will spend what is necessary, once i feel like i know enough to pull the trigger on something. i will use it for mostly rock stuff.

Johnson are low end, chinese junk. Their counterfeits are better quality. lol Since you have it, fresh pots are inexpensive, so I'd replace those. If it stays in tune, leave it as is. Ampwise, 100W ss will be fine for jamming. For everything bass, check out www.talkbass.com/Careful though, they're kinda woke there. I've had many suspensions till they finally banned me.

Careful though, they're kinda woke there. I've had many suspensions till they finally banned me. As if we needed another reason to slag bass players.
