i like to learn new songs that i think will make me grow as a player, but also, some songs i learn because i just love those songs. when i learn a song, i try to get my sound and my technique as close as i can to the record, so that when i play against the record, i can sound like them as much as possible. then i can use what i learn from it for other things too.
i am working on this one because it's cool, and iconic and because it will make me grow. it's going to take me forever because it's 9 minutes long, and some of the parts are sooo fast, i don't know if i'll be able to master them. i posted the video i am learning from, so you can see with your eyes just how fast some of the licks are. the parts i'm talking about begin around the 8:38 mark, and after that a few even faster.
the next 2 songs aren't hard to play, but i love the style she plays with. it's just straight up, no b.s. rock. i can play it no problem, it's only a matter of memorizing it.
sadly, the amorettes added 1 person to their line up, and changed their name to "the hot dam". now their music blows chunks.

I thought the amorettes were done, didn’t know they started up under another name. i NEVER expected anyone to know who they were. gill montgomery is one of my favorite players. soooo straightforward, with no pretense. at least with her, i won't make the same mistake i made with clare cunningham. i learned that alot of bands, you can email them, and they'll answer you directly. sometimes, they also read the comment section of their youtube videos as well. she put out a single after she left thundermother, and it souded like greensleeves or something. i posted "this is what you left thundermother to do?" she got upset with me, and told me off. i should probably feel bad, but i don't. besides, guernica is a better fit than she was anyhow. either way, i have spoken with a gill and heather mckay by email, before they released the hot dam stuff. it's terrible - unless you like the go-gos, then you'd love 'em. i don't know why they changed, i hope they're happy, but i ain't. hahahaha

Wish they would have stuck it out a little longer.
