the basic difference is which side of the circuit you put the capacitor.
i recently ditched the greenboard in my LP and wired it using actual wires. i went with the 50's wiring to see what it's like. the knobs work in a predictable fashion that i like, but it's brighter than i prefer. i may try the modern wiring when i get it back. right now, it is at the luthier getting a bone nut, and some fret work.
any of you that have tried both wiring methods, i would be interested in hearing your thoughts

I’ve never messed with the wiring in any of my lp’s, or any guitar for that matter. If you do go to the modern wiring when you get it back I’d be interested in hearing your opinion on that.

I did it to one years ago. I didn't like it for some reason. Changed it to modern and was more comfortable afterwards. Can't recall why. I sold that guitar a while back.

I have both, but don't remember what guitars has which one. I can't tell a difference, but then again I'm not really paying all that much attention.

ok, so finally, it's done. according to the luthier, the reason it was so brite, is because the pot values weren't even close to matching, and i had a ground issue of some kind. it sounds FANTASTIC now. aside from that, now i have had a fret level, crown and polish, and a new nut. it plays better than it ever did, and it never played bad. the controls do act a little differently than they did before, i find them much more useable. so now i know the difference between modern and vintage wiring, and i like the vintage better. it still looks mostly the same, not quite as pretty as before, but i'm really happy with the way the mods turned out. here is the before shot: here it is in it's current configuration: i guess i should mention i ditched the BB pro for an evh frankenstein, and went with an uncovered 57 classic in the neck, as well as adding locking tuners, bone nut, the 50's wiring and all new cts pots with 2 orange drop caps. i need to cut the grass
