I'd like to replace an album I had years ago but can't remember the album title. I recently tried to guess it and ended up with a compilation of the artist's greatest hits. Not a bad album, but not what I want. I may have narrowed it down by pinpointing one hit title that was on the original album, but I'd like to audition the whole album online before I blindly order what might or might not be the right thing. I tried using Google to search You Tube, but it keeps bringing up just the title track from the album which was the hit single....What I'd like to do is audition the whole album just to make sure it's what I want. Any suggestions?

Try discogs.com. That is a huge database of artists and albums.
And don't keep us in suspense as far as who the artist is!

Try discogs.com. That is a huge database of artists and albums. And don't keep us in suspense as far as who the artist is! The artist is The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I just ordered the anthology Twenty Years of Dirt, but it's a compilation of greatest hits, not what I want. I think what I'm looking for is The Dirt Band album "Make A Little Magic", which was their twelfth album that came out after 1980. I'd like to listen to that album to ensure that it's the one I'm looking for before I order it.
I don't recognize the cover art. It was actually a cassette version that I had, and after I bought it, it stayed in my car tape player for months and I never looked at the tape case again.

What you could do is to listen to each individual song briefly on YT to verify? Copy/paste these songs one at a time in the YT search bar. You may have to preface each song with the band name.

Well, Laristotle's suggestion was a good one. I'd been hoping to find a way to link the entire album, which might have been an easier way to search, but, although it's a bit tedious, the suggestion of searching each song individually does work.
That's the good news. The bad news?.....This isn't the album I was looking for. This album's got a harder, edgier sound to it, but I have to say, I like almost everything on the album and I might end up buying it anyway, because I think I'd enjoy it enough to hear it over and over again.
Still mystified about what album I'm looking for. I may have to slowly work my way through all the band's albums till I find what I started out looking for.
I have to say though, the Dirt Band album seems really out of character to what I remember of the early Nitty Griity albums with songs like Mr. Bojangles. Maybe I should have expected that because the Wiki page mentions that this band's been through a lot of personnel changes. In some ways it reminds me of the way the early Fleetwood Mac morphed from being a cultish blues band when the front line had guys like Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, and Jeremy Spencer, into a real top-40 pop band with Lindsay Buckingham and Steve Nicks out front. Same band - completely different personality.
Meanwhile, the search for the unknown Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album goes on....

Like I said, try Discogs- that site will basically have every single album they released and even every single compilation they appeared on. It is a good resource

Here's one of the cuts from that Make A Little Magic album that shows the diverse stuff this band is capable of.

One of the nice things is that they'll quite often list new copies of an album and multiple prices for used copies. I've bought new, but also used from their vendors and have had good success. One of the things I like is that if you're looking for something but they don't have stock, you can post a search and they'll notify you when one appears.
