Some of you will remember that I started a beards thread on the 'other' forum a few years ago. Seeing as there are many other people here, I thought I would start a similar thread here.
Do you have a beard? I spent all of this summer with mine shaved off, but I grew it back over Christmas. I plan to keep it for the rest of the winter unless some legitimate reason comes along to shave it off.
So, anyone else here rock the beard?

Nope, I’m clean shaven. The couple of times I have tried to grow one, it just ends up as a itchy mess so end up shaving again. I usd to have a moustache when in the RAF, which seemed to grow quite well. Just about see it in these

I never had a beard of a moustache for the same reason as JR. After a week it just feels itchy and I can't wait to shave it off.
The longest I ever went without shaving is a week, when I contracted glandular fever while in the UK. I was completely bedridden and shaving was the last thing on my mind !

You have to wait longer than that--patience, man... That said I have had a beard for a very long time. Most people I know theses days have never see me without a beard in person--although some have seen pictures.

I've had a full beard, goatee, moustache only and clean shaven at different times, but the last time I grew a beard--it just stayed. Although I think it needs bit of trim soon. (And I doubt I'll do moustache only again.)

I've done the beard thing a few times over the years. The first time I got married (in my mid-20's) I shaved off my beard a few months later and my wife was calling all her friends saying "Come and see my 16 year old husband". I've grown one occasionally since, when I was in jobs where I could afford to look scruffy while it was growing in. Since I retired, I've had one most of the time. Being on HRT (testosterone replacement therapy), I have the skin afflictions most people remember from their teenage years, so shaving doesn't really agree with me anymore.

as John said, I grew my moustache out when I was in the Army. I shaved it once in 1977 and promptly grew it back. so, I've had it since then. my wife has told me to never shave it off.
a beard, on the other hand, is a different matter. some of you may remember that back on July 4th, 2019. I fell at work and broke my leg. well, I wasn't about to stand in front of a mirror on a broken leg and try to shave. no way !!! so, I let it grow from July to the end of October of 2019. my wife hated it. there was also some other folks that didn't like it either. anyway, the only reason that I finally did shave it off was because I was going to see my mother just before she passed away. it took me a good two hours to shave that thing off. I used scissors and dulled three disposable razors shaving that thing off. I didn't realize how thick my beard had gotten. I now try to not go more than a week without shaving.

I just grew a beard for the first time in over 25 years, used to be red, now it's white! Been sporting a handle bar moustache for probably 25 years. I am going to try and trim it short to see if I want to keep it.

I buy those triple blade disposables at Costco and if I’ve let my beard grow a little too long, I may take out a new one. However, I usually shave evert day or two.

Moustache most of my adult life. The times I've shaved it off I'm told I look like I have no upper lip, so back it grows. The past 10 years or so I've had some hair on my chin too but that may go soon as my grandson told me at Christmas that I reminded him of Sam the Snowman.

(And I doubt I'll do moustache only again.) One reason I like a beard (not the only one, and not the main one, but still a reason) is that I don't have to care for it every day (Other than a quick brushing) That would take way too much time. And while it suits him, it isn't my thing.

My whiskers grow quite quickly (Although I know people who have them grow more quickly) So there are days where, depending on what I am doing that day, I've shaved twice that day & again the next morning. Having a beard saves me time & razors (& money)

I've been toying with the idea of shaving my beard and starting from scratch. I've found that after a long while, the texture gets really coarse, almost like a brillo pad. It always seems so nice and soft when it's freshly grown. I'm also finding it a pain in the ass having a beard when we're forced to wear masks so much of the time. Why doesn't someone sell masks that are designed to accommodate beards? It seems to me that there are enough guys growing them these days that there'd be a market for a product like that.

It must be a good idea if somebody's already doing it, lol. Only thing I notice is that it bears an uncanny resemblance to a horse's feed bag

My cat obviously agreed with that observation. When I shaved a couple of years after I adopted her, she was really distressed and seemed to be wondering "What's wrong with Daddy?" She jumped up into my lap and spent most of an hour licking my face (probably trying to make my fur grow back).
