A house 2 doors away from me was listed at $694,500 last March and sold in 5 days for $755,000. Another house down the street was listed for $799,900 in early December and sold in 4 days for $1,030,000. I’m telling you, the market has gone crazy! I figure that I can probably get just under $1 million for mine but I’d have to pay much more than that for something else due to the bidding wars. . It’s definitely a sellers market right now. We made a killing on the Alaska house but we knew it would be a catch 22 one we got into the buying game. We got extremely lucky with the Florida house, if the sellers weren’t in such a big hurry the could have done much better. It was an estate sale, the original owner died and left it to the family to divide the proceeds once sold, apparently they wanted money quickly and we benefited from it. Will be a shock going from Alaska to Florida, temperature wise

congrats, Bill. sounds like you've done your homework and found a great retirement home. and it's in a lot warmer climate. my wife and I were talking today about heading south as well. she's getting tired of Minnesota. there's nothing in Louisiana for me anymore. so, I'm thinking about settling in Mississippi. What kind of a time frame are you looking at on the move?

The difference this time is I won’t be working on hot rooftops and mechanical rooms anymore. I’d have to say the the transition from extreme heat to extreme cold was the hardest transition I ever made. Going back to warm temps without the specter of my job hanging over my head will be easy.

What kind of a time frame are you looking at on the move? to be honest, not really sure right now. her two sisters are still up here. plus our daughter doesn't like hot weather. she was born here in Minnesota.
