So what is your #1? Do you have a favourite? Is it tough to decide….kinda like choosing your favourite child? I’ll go first:
I own a ‘75 Telecaster, ‘72 Tele Thinline RI FSR, ‘06 Gibson ES137 Custom, ‘14 Gibson 120th Anniversary Les Paul Melody Maker and a recently purchased ‘21 PRS SE Hollowbody. All are excellent guitars with their own individual characteristics. For the last 5 or 6 years, my Tele Thinline and Melody Maker have been my 1a and 1b. They are both great guitars for rock, especially the MM with its fast neck and P90 pickups. They are also 2 of my lightest guitars with the Tele at a little over 6 lbs and the MM around 7 lbs. With my bad back and ankles, the light weight really helps when playing 4 hour gigs.
However, I can’t wait until we start rehearsing again as the PRS is a dream to play and I’d like to hear it in a band setting. It’s also the lightest guitar I own at 6lbs 1oz. Very comfortable in my hands and against my body. It may easily become my #1 in the future.
So what’s your #1?

I don't have a particular favourite. Now I'm down to just 12, I try to rotate them all. If you don't count my bass and acoustic, I have 10 that I usually play out. When playing with the little folk band I play with, I usually use my Trussart, trying to be quiet
When I play in bands, I take a couple of Les Pauls or a Les Paul & my 335.
I played this one out last night. It's a 2010 1960 Reissue Iced Tea

In My case, it would come down to my Guild X-500 and my Fibertone carbon fiber acoustic. But of those two, the Guild would be the winner because of the neck. That has got to be the most comfortable neck I have ever played on- overall it is a wonderful guitar.

I also have two acoustics. I was actually thinking of electrics when I started the thread but acoustics are part of the family too!
I have a ‘72 Ovation Balladeer and a ‘12 Martin D-16GT. The Martin is definitely my #1 acoustic. I have an LR Baggs M1 sound hole pickup that I use to amplify it. Like Laristotle’s Peavey Ecoustic, the Ovation has a great electric guitar feel with a nice narrow neck. It has an old Dean Markley SST composite piezo saddle that is incredibly loud and clean. However, after I bought the Martin, the Ovation just sounded like crap acoustically although plugged in, it sounds pretty decent like any other piezo equipped acoustic guitar.

Whew, a loaded question if there ever was one. I guess I’ll have to say my strat, I’ve talked about it and posted pics several times over the years. 2000 light ash body USA strat with maple neck and a couple mods. I’ve had the guitar since new so almost 22 years. Sometimes I get into Lp mode and play one for a couple months but always to return to the strat., it’s like circling back to the airport. I just like the feel of that guitar.

Define #1.
Guitar I have the longest and deepest attachment to, the one I'd never sell? My '77 Les Paul Custom, that I bought new and have owned for over 44 years now.
The one I appreciate the most from a 'fine musical instrument' POV? My Lowden F35 in Adi over ACM (a rare find of wood they are now out of).
But neither of these are my #1 'take out and play' guitar. That would be my 10+ year old R9 LP with the Bigsby. It isn't better than my LPC but it has a Bigsby. Pretty much ever guitar I play out now has to have one, so that leaves me with my LP, Gretsch, 335 and a Tele.
Ask me in 6 months and it may be one of the other three on that list, but it's the LP and has been for about a year now. Probably time for a change. Perhaps I should restring the 335 for practice tonight?

Highly recommended. I love mine.
It was hard to find one that stayed <10 lbs. LP's are heavy in general and the Bigsby must add a pound to it - but at least in the right location. The G6120 is a featherweight compared to the LP while being much larger all around. But two entirely different beasts.

I rotate through mine as well. It depends on my mood, what I'm playing, and the context Outside of home if I play with others it's mostly at church, and I mostly play bass for that--so it's my Fretless Ibanez SR500F If I play guitar ti depends on what songs were doing & what other instruments I'll be playing with. Do I need a big sound? or not?, etc. So usually it's my Ibanez Artcore or my LP copy with the P-Rail set on P-90 in the neck. But it might not be. I can say that's my #1 bass--but guitar? They all get a turn.

The first Strat I assembled is still my favourite.
Swing alder body, 1987 MIJ Contemporary Squier neck, Steinberger gearless tuners, American Standard pickups with german-silver trim rings, 15 position pickup combinations, TBX control, Q-Parts ruby knobs, switchable Villex mid-boost, built in electronic tuning, built-in Samson wireless transmitter with dual 9V lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, Custom Shop Parts bridge, Dunlop Straploks.
I've built four Strats since this one, but this is still the one I really got right.

i only have three. one of them is in need of repair, and the other one is a bass. the ibanez above turned out to be a pretty high roi in terms of bang-for-your-buck. as soon as i got it, i ditched the plastic nut for a properly cut bone one, some self locking tuners, and had someone go over the entire neck and make it perfect. as far as comfort, sound and playability goes, i'd put up against anything out there. i've had "nicer" guitars that weren't this nice.

My buddy had one of these in 83 and it was truly nicer than any guitar I had had the opportunity to hold at that time. His grampa had bought it for him just before he passed on, both these fellas could play guitar!
