Today as I was driving to Niagara, my phone rang and the caller information that showed up on the screen in the car said the caller was from Canmore Alberta. I declined the call as it was spam but when I went to block the number, the information on my phone said that it came from Oakville Ontario. WTF? But that’s not where it ends! Between 11am and 7pm tonight, I’ve received 14 such calls, all spam. After receiving about 5 or 6 of them, I found a setting that silenced the phone when unknown numbers call. However, I still get notifications of the calls on my Home Screen. I just can’t believe how many of these call I’ve received thus far today. In the past, I’ve usually gotten one every couple of weeks and I’ve never answered them but rather rejected and blocked them. I don’t know what would cause this sudden increase in one day. All of our phone numbers are on the “Do not call” list but since these guys are spoofing the numbers that show up, there’s no way to report them. It’s been a little over an hour now that I haven’t received a call but I’m sure I’ll be getting more. Stay tuned!

I wish the Telcos could do something about this!

Ya, that duct cleaning service was a pain in the ass. Every day at dinner time, they’d call my land line. I did the old Seinfeld “I’m busy right now, give me YOUR home number and I’ll call you later tonight”, I yelled at them, I told them I’m on the “do not call list” and I was reporting them, I told them my house is electric baseboard heating and I don’t have ducts, also that I don’t have “ducks” and I also told the guy to go do some unspeakable things to his mother and sister. This last thing had the guy tell me that I was very rude! It even shocked my wife when I said it. I told the guy that for the last year, they have interrupted my dinner almost every night even after telling them I wasn’t interested and that I wasn’t going to take it anymore. Shortly thereafter, I got call display thrown in on my landline and I stopped answering those calls. Then the calls stopped for a couple of years. This past year, they started again but if I don’t recognize the number, I don’t pick it up anymore. They can leave a message if it’s important.
However, and this really threw me for a loop, earlier this year, the phone rang and when I went to check out the number, it was my own phone number calling me!

You're lucky- I would say that 90% of the calls on my cell are now the extended warranty scam. It renders my cell useless except for calls from people I have as contacts as I refuse everything

Lately, I've been getting calls from psychic astrologers. I told them that my tarot reading this morning advised me to be wary of phone services offered. They still call back. lol

If the number isn’t in your contact list, the phone won’t ring or vibrate but you’ll get a notification on your Home Screen about a missed call.

Or you can laugh and and say, “holy sh!t! I’m a psychic astrologer too! What are the chances of that?”.

Mine is android but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something similar. The only thing is one in awhile I get calls from my daughter's school that wouldn't be a contact. And occasionally I get calls for the band.
