Read any good books lately? A little while back I read Anne Rice's "The Feast Of All Saints" and had some trouble getting into it. I was accustomed to to her books that are more occult in nature, and this was so different. It turned out to be an interesting read though. I'm just finishing Stephen King's "Hearts In Atlantis". Realized about fifty pages in that I've read it before, but so long ago that it felt like a new book.
I just ordered a book to read when I knock off the last few pages of the King book in the next couple of days. I've always been intrigued with information about The Beatles in the recording studio. I've spent a fair amount of time on an online site called "The Beatles Bible - not quite as popular as Jesus". It's a wealth of information on the recordings, song-by-song, and it also tipped me off to the book by Geoff Emerick called "Here, There and Everywhere". Emerick was the Beatles sound engineer at Apple through the period of The White Album and then again later. It's recommended as a pretty worthwhile read by people on the Beatles Bible site and forum. So, my copy's due here from Amazon in a week or so - Bonus....I had a gift card balance at Amazon that I didn't know about, so the book ended up costing me 2.79, lol

Not sure whether it's good or not, but I'm still struggling with the bible In 1999, the was a period of around 3 months when I was "on the bench" at the consulting company I worked for. I was on full pay and benefits but no assignment. I decided to read an Amish Martin Luther translation of the bible cover to cover during that time. As time wore on I got sick of sitting home and not working so I started looking for a job. Amazingly, I finished the bible the day before I got a new job offer and started working at the new company the following Monday. More amazingly, the day I finished the bible was the day before my oldest daughter was born. That Monday that I went to the new job was the day after my daughter got home from the hospital. Totally true story.

About to start Leviticus

Thanks, John. I inquired at the Vancouver Island Regional Library, hoping to borrow a copy before I bought it, but they don't have it. I'll probably order the paperback from Amazon. I thought about buying a Kindle last year, but it's not the electronic format that the libraries use in Canada. Looking forward to reading the book though. I thoroughly enjoy musical biographies and your book would have a special meaning to me because I know you personally.

Seems like this has been a bad day for celebrities passing. Anne Rice, author of the Vampire Chronicles and the Witching Hour/Lasher series of books has passed. She wrote thirty best selling novels over the last few years. I always enjoyed her writing and it's disappointing to think there won't be any more, but she's left a terrific legacy of great books.

I've given the bible a rest for a while and working my way through a series of books by Faith Martin. They're about a police detective inspector called Hillary Greene. Just started the 6th of a 19 book series. They're very down to earth and also based in my area. The author actually uses real places, not made up towns and villages. In book 5, they even mention popping into a pub in Brackley, where I live

As someone who’s a devout atheist, I find it all hilarious 😆

I mentioned a while ago that I was waiting for a copy of Geoff Emerick's book (Here, There and Everywhere) to arrive. It's everything it's touted to be....A really good look at EMI's recording studio, the procedures used in recording, and the processes through various groups within their manpower that result in the records we hear. I think this will be particularly rewarding to anyone who's a Beatles fan, but there's enough about the recording of music that almost any musician would find it gratifying.

Later today, I plan to start reading the Mark Messier “No One Wins Alone” book that I received for Christmas.
