Nothing specific at this time.
I would like a keyboard (nothing fancy but not too low end either.
But not right away.
Did just have a NPD * NPBD
But I do have some possibilities as well for growing the gear fund again.
But most likely my next musical purchases will be accessories...

I have a guitar/golf fund that I put my gigging money and money from selling stuff into. I think it's got around $1400 in it right now. Not looking for anything in particular but I did just buy a GPS a couple of days ago for getting yardages when playing golf. I was going to buy my PRS until my wife said that she would buy it. Now I'm kinda eyeing a Fender Blues Jr but I want to wait until we start playing again cuz if the gigs don't come in, I won't need it.

I did offer to pay for half of it but my wife said no as it was for both my birthday and retirement. |

The only thing I'm really saving for is a sports car, and it is going to require quite a bit of saving. I think right now I've got $750 in the gear fund and I've been scraping together whatever I can in my savings account.
At this point it is very unlikely that I'd be buying much in the way of musical gear anytime soon- probably another round of culling is going to come soon in my amps. I'm transitioning from being a collector to just a regular player

Only thing I buy musical these days are strings. Of course I save, but it's there for emergencies and kids when we pop off I think I still have 8 or 9 amps- that needs to move closer to 5. I think I have 7 or 8 guitars- that number won't change unless I sell my 1963 Guild eventually. I'm actually really excited about having a large "mad money" goal- it might be the first time in my whole life. Of course I have aggressive savings targets for retirement and CMA accounts but with those contributions and college tuition, etc. I've never really been able to buy myself something really big. |

My mad money has always been from gigging. I always used it to buy music gear or golf gear, my two weaknesses. My wife could never complain as every once in a while I would give her the proceeds from a gig to buy something for herself.

I know I need to reduce gear and I've been dragging my feet. At least I started putting trumpets on consignment because we have way too many of them. I always give my kids my share of the gigging money- they need it more than I do and it has been a good source of income for them while they are still in school. Mostly they funnel the money into Roth IRA's- considering my son has been playing paid gigs since he was 10, his Roth IRA has a pretty impressive amount in it for an 19 year old. |

I'm not saving to buy anything special, but I am looking for a guitar. I'm looking for a Framus acoustic 6 string or a 12 string. however, I'm basically only looking on my local craigslist. before the pandemic, there would be one or two show up. if they are local, I can go look at them. so, I'm not in a real big hurry to spend my hard earned money. |

I even have a hard time getting out of my daughters Mazda 3 or my wife’s Ford Fusion (Mondeo in Europe for JR). I can’t imagine climbing in and out of some little sports car at my age! |

I only really had one item on my want list that I'd have been saving for, and that was a new computer. However, my computer problems have unexpectedly resolved themself....I changed my computer security program from the previous free programs from AVG, Avast, and Avira that I've been using for a while, and have reinstalled the Microsoft Security Essentials program I used to use. I hadn't anticipated it fixing what was wrong, but over a period of about two weeks, the problems have diminished and almost disappeared. So, replacing the computer has gone on the back burner.
Surprisingly, I'm not feeling any G.A.S. pains. I've come to the realization that I've got enough gear to scratch the band itch if an opportunity arises, so there's really nothing I'm pining for.
There are still occasional moments when I'll be perusing the classifieds and I'll see a vehicle that I think would be fun to own, but realistically, I've got a decent car with very few miles that'll last me the rest of my life, so owning a toy to drive wouldn't make sense.
Life's biggest trauma now is wondering how I'd spend it if I did end up with a lottery windfall.

And sometimes I wonder if it makes sense to spend money on gear... But I enjoy it, and I may still have many years left to enjoy it. |

We finally paid that off about 5 years ago and have been debt free ever since. When our company closed down and I was let go, I received a severance package equivalent to 66 weeks of pay and I put that directly into my retirement savings plan so that I wouldn’t get taxed on it until I take it out. So if we’re to come into a large windfall, I’d put a bunch aside for my kids, and the missus and I would take a few trips. |
