And my Citizen quit yesterday. I have a Citizen Eco-Drive which eliminates that issue.

Just curious, is anyone here into really expensive watches? The most expensive watch I have is by Tiffany. It was a 10-year gift at an IT job years ago. I like it - but find it small and a bit feminine so I don't often wear it. I would like a Submariner some day but probably not gonna happen.Boy, that sure ain't in the "cheap seats". I just don't think I could ever bring myself to spend that much on a watch- I think I'd be worried about getting mugged if I was wearing something like that around.

I also have a Waltham Railroad watch from the 19-teens or so. It works well, but I'm not carrying that around with me.

Unfortunately it doesn't keep good time so it lives in a drawer and only comes out for prop value on very rare occasions, which is a shame.

Even a lot of modern mechanical/wind up watches do not keep good time. It's the nature of the beast.

Yeah I had one of those Stauer self winding jobs about 15 years ago- it looked fantastic, but didn't keep good time. I dealt with it for about 4-5 years, correcting the time a couple minutes here and there until the replacement bands that came with it were completely rotted and unusable. When I took it to a jeweler I asked him if he could make it keep time better, he made the watch stop by pulling the crown out and said "here, at least it will be right twice a day"

Hey it is cool to have a more expensive watch for special occasions. I personally don't value it for myself because the fancy watch just doesn't do anything for me. I often wear cufflinks with dress shirts, but I'm happy with a $10 VW set from EBAY or Reddy Kilowatt, rather than diamonds or something valuable

When I was in the military I wore a watch, pretty much had to in those days. It had a camo canvas wrist band with a fold over flap.

I have since left that company months before my 30 year milestone without regret. A company can have all the resources in the world, yet if they have promoted the wrong people to high level leadership positions the lose good people!

Yeah of course, that is a real keepsake with sentimental value, like a wedding ring. Few can say nowadays they lasted 25 years at a company!

I’ve been thru that scenario…….twice! 20 yrs at one place and 23 at the last place.

I did 22 years in the Royal Air Force and just got a small carriage clock, which incidentally now doesn't work. I still have it though as a memento. It's not worth trying to get it repaired. Consolation is I also have a Long Service & Good Conduct medal

I still wear a wristwatch. have for years. however, I don't wear it like most of y'all. I wear the watch face on the inside of my wrist. I started wearing it like that back in high school when I was running track. I ran distance races. so, all I had to do was turn my palm up and I could read it. also, if I wore it the regular way, the watch stem would dig into the back of my hand. I even wore it like that when I was in the Army.
I usually buy a less expensive watch at WalMart. I'm rough on watches. so, a cheap watch suits me just fine.

There is only one time I haven't worn a watch since my 12th Birthday.. That was in basic training. I was a fan of Casio G-Shocks, but moved over to "smart watches". Started off with a Garmin Fenix 3HR if the Altimeter / Barometer wasn't inaccurate and it recorded sleep, it would have been my daily. I use a Samsung Galaxy Watch3 for my daily. I'm a mechanic and are rough on my watches, they both are holding up well. The only time I take the off is when I have to charged them. The Garmin battery last a week and the Watch3 only 2 days.
Here's my current watch face on my Samsung. I'm not a huge fan of elaborate watch faces.
