I received a message in the Admin section today which states "IMPORTANT POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT: In order to protect the public, ProBoards has instituted a policy which prohibits the posting of misinformation related to the COVID-19 outbreak."
So based on that, it is possible that some posts relating to Covid, vaccines, lockdowns, etc. might get deleted.
But I wanted to make it perfectly clear - we will not be deleting anything by choice. If anything is deleted, it will be the host doing it not us. I suppose we might have to delete some stuff if instructed to do so, but that will only happen if we are ordered to do it. We will not be doing it of our own volition.
I just wanted everyone to know that this policy has come into effect. Hopefully it won't affect us, but if it does it will be based on the initiative of the host company and not on the part of any of us.

That's harsh. Even misinforation has a place - it informs us of what people we are trying to converse with are being exposed to. Does anyone actually think that denying one side of an argument will somehow result in a win? It not only sucks but it tells us what the future is gonna look like here on other topics that aren't PG. VS here we come

I did a little more digging and found the message from the CEO. I will paste it below, but just wanted to reiterate that if anything happens it didn't come from us. We're quite small so I doubt we will have any issues, but if we do it ain't us who are at fault. We've got a nice little community here, and I thought it important to be up front so that if anyone gets upset about anything and is looking for someone to blame they blame the right people.
Anyway, here is the message in its entirety:
As you are undoubtedly aware, the world is facing an unprecedented emergency with COVID-19 and the situation is rapidly evolving.
Recently there have been some discussions on this forum relating to this crisis, including some posts which contained misinformation. The health and safety of our employees, customers, and the public at large is our utmost priority. We strongly encourage you to follow the recommendations of experts in your area and around the world.
Relying on accurate information is paramount to successfully overcoming this global pandemic. We will not tolerate the propagation of misinformation on our platform which could result in serious consequences for the public at large. If you see any false information posted on a ProBoards forum, report it to us here. Further, on our Support Forum we will not tolerate information from non-authoritative sources.
The following links can help you find information about COVID-19 and social distancing:

Simulations: Flattening the curve with social distancing
At ProBoards, we are committed to continuing to provide our services without interruption. Our employees began working from home as of last week. We are exercising extreme caution to help contain the spread of this disease by practicing appropriate social distancing. Our staff will continue to be available as normal, and forums should experience no interruptions.
Online communities will prove crucial in the coming days and weeks as society introduces social distancing. Platforms such as ours will ensure continued community engagement in both a safe and responsible manner.
We have a difficult time ahead of all of us. If you are able to, please consider white-listing us if you use an ad-blocker, or subscribe to PB+. This global downturn will no doubt cause significant impact to the financial health of companies around the world. Your help is sincerely appreciated in helping to support us while we continue to support you through this time.
Thank you for being a member of ProBoards. Please be safe, stay healthy, and we will all come through this together.

They seem concerned about advertisers as well contagion. Am I supposed to read the advertising so that the reset can go off without a hitch.

Patrick ClingerColin, while reading that, it seems like that could have been posted when the pandemic first started. still good advice though.

I thought so too. It might well have been, but I only received the notification about it now so wanted to bring it to people's attention.

To be honest, I came here because it was a Guitar related forum, not to read info about COVID stuff, whether that info was true or false. That stuff has been rammed down our throats by the News media, along with social media, for the last 18 months or so.
I couldn't care less whether people have a vaccine or not, that's entirely up to them as it is to me and my family. Whether you do or not have the jab, you live with any consequences. It's your choice as it is the choice of organisations who may want to introduce 'rules' before you can use their facilities.
Let's please just get back to guitars. I certainly think the COVID-19 thread should be moved to wherever the Politics section exists

In Toronto they are deferring cancer surgeries because unvaccinated people with covid are taking up beds in the ICU. That comes directly from a doctor at one of the major hospitals yesterday in Toronto. He was extremely frustrated over the fact that the situation was preventable; so there is an effect on other people when certain groups refuse vaccination and dramatically impact the lives of other people. Triage requires them to treat the sickest first so cancer patients get bumped in favour of people with covid who declined vaccination. There’s a song in there somewhere probably in B minor.
