Anybody else have spare parts lying around? Could be from any sort of project or other reason.
Any plans for them? Sell them? Keep them? Have a plan for them? Whatever?
At one point I had plan to build a new body for my EB 3 copy bass, and to sue the body for an SG copy/partscaster type thing. That never happened.
Some of the parts I gathered for that were used on both of my modded guitars, some are leftover from those mods, some just showed up.
So while not an excessive amount I do have some spare parts--I might use them to replace parts on an existing guitar if they fail or break. I might make a guitar if I get a decent set of pickups or just for fun. Who knows?

Off the top of my head I have -a set of Grover machine heads (not sure the type) -a cheap set of open tuners that came on a neck -a partial set of classical tuners I was given, and sued some off the screws on my classical, after the screws came loose. -the unbroken tuners (Goths) from my LP copy -a toggle switch tip or two -a cream pickup ring -a variety of speed knobs (Mostly gold)--after changing one guitar to black, and another to a darker gold (the old ones from LP Custom) -Witch Hat knobs from my LP copy -Corroded bridge & tailpiece form my Les Paul -Black tune a match style bridge & a tabalck tailpiece to put on my LP copy (Which will result in a chrome example of each-plus the studs o mount them. -toggle switch -mini toggle (DPDT) -Input jack -the old pickups from my L{P copy -A Les Paul style neck (Bolt on) -Strap knobs from my LP copy So if I had a body of some sort & either used the LP copy pickups or got a new set, and got a neck plate & screws for the neck (As well as a new nut)--I could put together something. I also have the strap knobs & Sure Grip knobs form my Iceman. (But those are not going to be used on something else--they'll stay ready if I ever decide to switch back to them)
I have more than I thought I did. Maybe I need to make something.

I spent almost fourteen years building partscasters and over the years, I accumulated a vast storehouse of parts. When I found out the house I was living in had been sold and I was going to have to move, I knew I had to make some decisions. There was no place to store them in the place I intended to move, and there wasn't any place to work on instruments, even if my vision had still been good enough. I had limited time to deal with it, and knew that in the past, I hadn't had a lot of luck selling parts. In the end, I gave everything to a local luthier who'd done me a good turn when he refretted my Duosonic. I've already missed things I wish I'd kept, but hindsight is 20-20. The luthier that ended up with my stock was pleasantly surprised...I think he thought he was going to end up with a pile of junk, but told me afterward how happy he was. There were guitar bodies, guitar and bass necks, and probably enough hardware to build at least a dozen guitars.

I gave a box full of miscellaneous parts to our local chapter of ' guitars for kids' charities for their refurbishing of guitars donated to them.

Nice of you to give him that stuff, but maybe he could throw in a set up or two or minor repairs as needed if you don't have the means or eyesight needed these days. Sounds like he's real happy with it though.

Yeah I saw his posts over there. I also have some 500K pots. Some of these things I might use, some is stuff I took off guitar & should keep, but some is stuff I'm less likely to use, and even stuff i might use I probably wouldn't miss, and most of it is not expensive.

I don’t have a lot of extra parts. If I change pickups or machine heads, I save the old ones in case I sell the instrument. That way the new owner can do whatever they want.

I don't plan to sell any guitars--but yeah if I did it would be good to see it with the original knobs or whatever. Or at least for my heirs to be bale to do that. I do have a list of that, and plan to keep it updated--I need to make sure it's available to them though.

I have quite a few spare parts lying around. Am American standard strat loaded pickguard, the original humbucker pickups from my Guild X-500, original Gibson tulip tuners and a bunch of other hardware and electronics. Well I ever use them? Who knows!

I have some bits and pieces, including a set of Gibson pickups that came with a Les Paul I bought used. Someone had installed Bareknuckle PG Blues and left the originals in the case. Surprisingly, the shop where I bought the guitar left them in the case
Rest are mainly pickguards and some bridges from my son's LP.

I just found a used Fender Jazz Bass neck locally for 50.00. It makes me wish I still had drawers full of parts. I'd like to assemble another bass. I had a body, all the hardware, and a new set of tuners....All I'd have needed was a pickup. Too bad, It would have been a pretty easy build, and I've always wanted to try a narrower neck than the Precision neck I used on my last one.

Nah, I wanted it, but I'd have been starting from scratch having to buy everything. One thing to spend 50.00 on a neck and a few bucks for a cheap pickup, and having to order every single thing. It just drives home the point that absolutely anything I need is cash out of pocket. Heck, if I took a pickguard off one of my guitars and lost a screw, I'd have to order a package of them. I don't have the luxury of having parts to draw on anymore.
A new bass is something I really don't need....I've only been able to play out once in the last couple of years, and I've got three basses sitting there in cases as it is.

Well, yeah--sometimes getting something for free doesn't make sense--especially if someone else can use it. (Or it made sense at one time, but doesn't now)
