I'm not looking to stir the pot on masking debate, but I'm personally beginning to wonder about masking up again. British Columbia's been pretty much free to stop masking (except in medical situations) and a matter of personal choice for a while now. I followed most people in not masking up in public then, but now I'm beginning to wonder about my choice. Being in an over-55 apartment building, I see a certain number of the more elderly still using masks in the building.
Most of the news sources I tune into are all reporting that the Delta variant can be carried and transmitted by vaccinated people. So, I wonder, am I putting other people at risk? ...I don't mean those too close-minded to consider getting vaccinated......I'm talking about people with auto-immune health issues, people who have to use immune-suppressive medications for cancer treatment, and certainly kids under 12 years who aren't eligible to be vaccinated yet.
Supposedly, the Delta variant is much more contagious. So, should I be masking up? One of the common things I've heard about masks is that they may not be as effective at protecting you from other people, but a mask will help to minimize your expectorate to protect other people from you. So, this is a soul-searching - Should I be pro-active, and start doing now what I expect will be commonplace in the future?
I have no idea if masking could become mandatory again, but with predictions now that other variants -possibly most virulent than the Delta variant- will quite possibly break out in our future, I think that's a possibility.
And, purely from a selfish perspective, there are now confirmed Delta variant infections in vaccinated people. So is it possible I could be susceptible (having COPD) and would a mask serve me personally?
I've been kicking this idea around for a couple of weeks, and still can't figure out what to do.

Well for sure if it makes you feel better, wear a mask. Doesn't seem like much of a question based on what you are saying.
I'm hearing NJ just put the mask mandate back into effect. At least I have a bit more time before I have to deal with it (I think!)

We've been wearing them in Ontario non-stop

They've been talked about lots, 'follow the science', but comprehensive data is hard to find or not ever referenced. Part of that, I'm sure, is the different levels of masking - I don't see some cowboy pulling up his bandana as doing much for me or him.
That said, I have no personal objections, and laugh at people who REEEEEE! about breathing restrictions and other muh freedumbs idiocy. I'm asthmatic and borderline (at least) COPD, and have had no issues while masked.

I can last about 20 minutes in one before I need to get out of wherever I am and rip the thing off. I don't know how people can wear one all day. I feel for the little kids that will have to wear them at their desks all day. The solution is simple. Man-up and get your jab and let's all of us move on.

All I can say is don't get on a long plane flight if you hate masks! They actually come around and tell you to put them back on from time to time. I hate wearing too....

I choose to wear mine at work all day, except for eating and talking on the phone. I've been told by my boss I don't have to wear it when it's just our regular staff at the office (usually 5 of us including me), but I still feel better wearing it for now. It doesn't bother me wearing it all day.

We’ve stopped wearing those washable cloth ones as we found them to be quite restrictive when it comes to breathing. We’ve recently been using the the paper masks that we bought in bulk at Costco. I’m okay wearing them for longer periods as it’s much easier to breathe in them.

It still feels weird not going out in public with them for a couple of weeks.

I've decided that I'll adopt mask-wearing in public again on September 1st. I regard schools reopening for in-person learning as a super-spreader event.

I must admit I am wearing an N95 mask here in Vienna when I have to, like in the Subway and I'm finding long term they are not easy to breathe through

It's probably been said before, but masks are still mandatory in Ontario.

I just wear it to get to my truck in the underground in the morning and back in when I get home. At work it’s just in the elevator which these days is always empty. Although today my partner and I both wore one when we were in the board room for an hour discussing the future of the world and our place in it. N95 didn’t bother me.

I guess the issue for me is that were doing a lot of indoor steps, going up Towers etc and it is fairly hot here. Normally the n95 doesn't bother me either but our days have been strenuous over the past week.

I'm not sure anymore the solution is that simple.
In BC, we're around 75% full vax and 80% first poke. And C19 has reared up again, running about 500 cases a day. Now if that's only non-vaxed getting it, that would mean this outbreak without any vax would be 2000 cases/day. Maybe that's how virulent Delta is. Or maybe quite a few vaxed people are getting it. I expect the govt isn't telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth because they are still pushing the vax button over and over again. They don't want anything that will distract from that, and people being told the vax isn't working won't help their cause.
I'm back to wearing masks again. I took a few weeks off when BC lightened up, flew to SK and back wearing masks all the way, and since I've been back, I've been putting it on. Considering how little I go out, it's a small price to pay if it 'bends the curve' again.
I'm also trying to see the opportunities here. I'm going to a barn party tomorrow night - I don't really want to but my band can't play if I don't go. Normally I would wear a mask but it would be pointless in this crowd (plus, it's gonna be hot again). So I just marked up a couple of masks with a black marker: "Trudeau 4th Wave". I'll wear it for a few minutes when I first get there, and maybe a bit after I play. That should be fun for a few giggles. LOL
