I'm not a pedal fan, but over the years, I've bought a few that fell short of expectations.
I bought a Morley ABY box a few years ago, mostly so I could have two basses plugged in at a gig and change instruments quickly between songs. However, I always found there was a discrepancy between levels from the two instruments. No matter which bass was plugged in to the B side, it was always much lower volume than the A side. I was never able to nail down the problem. If I had only one bass plugged into the B side, the volume was fine, but as soon as I had something plugged into the A side, the instrument plugged into the B side dropped in level. I was never able to solve the problem, and now, the only time it gets used is if I need to connect two guitar cords together if I need a longer lead. I'll probably never buy another Morley product.
The only other one that really disappointed was the BOSS 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb modeling pedal. To my ear, it never sounded much like a Deluxe Reverb....It was far too easy to mis-adjust the volume and gain controls and end up with something that sounded way too dirty to represent an old blackface amp. Aside from that, the reverb was awful - Too much tin can effect and none of the lush Accutronics spring tank sound you'd expect from an old Fender. And, while the tremolo effect could sound okay if it was set properly, it took a lot of tinkering to get the proper mix of speed and depth to get what you wanted.
Given how perfectly BOSS dialed it with the 59 Fender Bassman modeling pedal, the Deluxe Reverb pedal was a real letdown.
Anything that stands out in your mind as less than you expected?

I had a Morley ABY to and also hated it. Although the problem with mine wasn't loss of gain but rather hum. I found the hum to be extremely annoying. I don't mind the normal hum of single coils, but the Morley seemed to really amplify it

None of the pedals I own have disappointed me, but I have tried some in stores that didn't live up to expectations--therefore I didn't buy them.
I did win a couple of pedals, and was given another as a gift, those all met with what I expected, but the others were test driven first.
All pedals seem to involve a period of experimentation, and that's something I enjoy-but I find many people don't allow of rid. They try a pedal for 30 seconds & write it off. I can see from your comments neither of you did that--which is good.
If that's all I did I may have written off some of them.

There are so many pedal makers out there, I haven’t experimented to much outside of boss pedals. I am currently using 2 mxr pedals, a phase 90 and a delay, I’ll have to admit the boss delay is better. Back in the day I ran a couple D.O.D pedals, the Supra distortion was a piece of junk.

I will probably go back the boss delay. My daughter bought me a couple of boutique style pedals used for me to experiment with, one of them is an analog filter, whatever that is. When I finally get around to noodling with them I’ll report back.

I have two DOD pedals the FX53 Classic Tube-which I like, it is a distortion that sometimes gets a bad rap, but I like the growl I get out of it. I also find that paired with a Boss DS-1 they complement each other well. I also had a FX40B Equalizer which it works--most graphic EQs are fairly simple--and as long as the signal goes through it--it's good. I've never tried the Supra Distortion.

Right now I’m running the mxr carbon copy delay, I liked the boss dd-7 I have better. My old dd-7 smoked on my pedal board, never could figure out why, there was nothing wrong with my power supply, I sent it to boss and they gave me a new one. The mxr has been an experiment. I am also running an mxr “custom badass.” modified overdrive, which I really like. I’m not running a distortion pedal, next 2 pedals on the wish list is an equalizer and compressor, I will go with boss on both of those. My pedal board is in full experimental mode, not sure what I’m even looking for.

I'd have to say that overall, I've been less than impressed with the durability of Behringer pedals. I've had more Behringer pedals fail than all other brands combined. The BOSS pedals seem to be the complete opposite....I've never had one die on me, and the only one that I've had any questions about is my DD-3 (and I'm not 100% sure that it's got a problem...Maybe it's operator error, lol).

TC Electronics MojoMojo, Paul Gilbert loves this pedal, but I didn't think it was all that.

I had the Morley ABY as well. Didn't really work for what I wanted, which was to 2 amps. Better off with an ABY like the ART one with ground lift and phase. Although I am sorry I cheaped out and got the one without LEDs. But hey, it was on sale!
Not really a pedal but the Marshall 9000 rackmount I bought in the 90's was a huge disappointment for me. Lifeless in everyway. I would check one out now though to see if I've learned anything about getting the best sound out of a piece of gear.

I've tried and been disappointed by cheap no-name Chinese pedals. I wanted to try some for a small, expendable pedalboard I was building ---- a small board with tones I wanted but didn't care if it got destroyed or stolen.
So I ordered a half dozen of them. Of which a couple were pretty much dead out of the box. A Kokko compressor sounded horrible and within 10 footswitch operations, it quit working altogether (not a great loss, sonically LOL). The company refused to communicate in English when I requested a repair/replacement (no problem with English when I was buying though). I guess their attitude was "hey, it cost you SFA so STFU and we're keeping your money. FU." No thanks.
The Joyo Ultimate Drive is supposed to be a cheap OCD. Not even close. Pretty nasty sounding and controls had no range to dial it out.
To be fair, a couple were OK. A Rat clone (ammon Myormorphia) and a Klon clone (Muslady Golden Horse) were usable. I never did AB comparisons with their originals, but at least they made somewhat pleasant noises and had usable adjustments.
The early Danelectro cheepies, the Drive and the Transparent Overdrive, were pretty good sounding pedals in the $40 range. I wouldn't say they nailed their originals (OCD and Timmy, respectively) but they sounded good. Cheaply made though, parts like their switches and pots were easy to break and very difficult (i.e. not worth it) to repair.

I had the UD and the Ultimate Octave. Didn't like either of them. The UD was too dark and I just did not like the UO.

I have a Behringer or two that let me down and a couple of low end EHX pedals that disappointed me. I have two Chinese pedals that really are awesome, American Joyo and a Plexi. I do have an EHX Ram's head that is cool!
