So stuff that's different from the usual variations of humbuckers, P-90s & Fender's variety of single coils. And even from the Gretsch FilterTrons, etc... Maybe even different than Gold Foils? Odd Guitar pickups

Wel, why not. that's a site I've had bookmarked for some time, and just re-disscovered it--so I'm sharing with an invitation for all to share.

I'd like to try one of these just to see what it sounds like when I play it: (Gibson ES-300N) this one was apparently stereo (St Moritz guitar)

Maybe not as odd as others here, and I mentioned them in other threads, but I love Seymour Duncan P-Rails--part Hot Rails Strat style pickup & part P-90 They designed this as two separate pickups joined together, so the coil sound great on their own. And they sound great together. P-Rail print review

The only Lace pickups I’ve ever tried were the original Tele style Lace Sensors. I installed them on my old Tele and probably used them for a good 5 or 6 years before changing back to my original pickups. The Lace pups were much higher output than the standard single coils and were extremely quiet. They were great through a cranked amp and I feel that they sounded exactly how a Tele pickup should sound. BUT... at lower volumes for clean music, they sounded sterile...no real “umph” or body.

The Alumitones are different than the sensors And they sound cool with less weight I would consider them on new guitar or if I’m replacing pickups at some future date

I have a Zexcoil humbucker (Legacy series) in one of my Strats (and I think I bought it from @davetcan ). That is the weirdest / weirdest looking pickup I own. Not really crazy, but also not conventional and it works quite well. lawingmusicalproducts.com/

Ordered a national slimline humbucker for my rezo today. I wanted to try one first before buying it but there’s only one place in Toronto that carries national parts and they only have one pickup in stock. So once that’s gone it’ll be six months to get one from national and the prices will have gone up another hundred bucks or something. So I just said to hell with it buy the fucker and hope it works out. Will add tone and vol pots once I find out which ones to use. The damn pick up cost half as much as the guitar did.

This is similar to my guitar. Most people mount them up against the neck but it's supposed to be a warm pickup so I might put it where this one is and add two pots and an internal end jack. I'll drill a hole in the top to run the cable inside the guitar. Gonna be zip ties and masking tape for awhile though until I decide on the location.

Rickenbacker's Horseshoe. I once played an old Rick lap steel with one of this pickups--If I'd had the money I would have bought it & doe some serious efforts at learning to play it. Sounded great & fun to play.
