we probably all remember Ricky Nelson singing "Hello, Mary Lou" and "Travlin' Man". the Stone Canyon Band was created later. they had a pretty good sound.
and of course, the hit "Garden Party".
here's a cut from the Garden Party album.

Never thought he would sound like that after the Mary Lou stuff. Excellent I bought the Garden Party album when it came out. I was in Germany at the time. the whole album has some great songs on it.
on a side note, in February '71, I went to a concert where they were the opening act. sad to say, I paid no attention to him and his band. I wanted to hear the other band, Dennis Yost and the Classics IV. a few months later, I met Dennis Yost in Augusta, Georgia when I was stationed there.
the Garden Party album :
I'm sure that if you listen to the album from youtube, it would be a continuous stream of songs. this was the only way I could post all of the songs.(and I left a couple out, also.)

Not sure how I managed to miss this thread when it was current....Probably because it happened at the end of January when I was about to move from my ultra-short room-mate gig and move into my current apartment, and my computer was down for a couple of days.
I've always been a Rick Nelson fan, but I'm less familiar with the newer stuff. I do remember, when I was doing AM radio, happening across a 45 of Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band's "She Belongs To Me", and being really impressed. And, it was only a couple of years ago that I watched a retro music documentary on TV that laid out the history of the Stone Canyon Band, and their influence on the Laurel Canyon music scene that was instrumental in the careers of so many names that became huge....Eagles, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Byrds, Joni Mitchell, etc, etc.
