So after doing a lot of research and getting a lot of opinions I am closing in on a choice.
What will be outgoing are 2x JBL 315 powered speakers, which are klunky and very awkward to put on stands due to size and weight. They also take up too much space in my car.
I went back and forth on the stick PA's from EV, HK, JBL and Bose, but in the end I think I am going to skip these systems for a few reasons. I'm not convinced that they will be adequate for outdoors, and I'm a little concerned that if the amp falls, we are down hard. Powered speakers automatically provide some redundancy.
The front runner now is the QSC CP12, which seems to offer a fair amount of power, decent low end and fairly compact. I looked at the QSC K10 OR K12 but I'm thinking the CP12 looks like a better value to me.

I don't have much product knowledge about the brand, but they seem to be well-thought of. The one band I played with from 2006 -2012 had a rack full of QSC power amps and they were bulletproof for us.

They seem to fit the bill. I looked at the Yamaha PA speakers too, but their 1 year warranty does not instill much confidence

They look quite good, very similar to my Peavey PVxP12 active speakers. They must be fairly big as they sell them over here, so international

They are certainly a bigger brand than I thought. All the major music outlets here seem to have them

Not sure about powered speakers but when it comes to power amps, QSC, Bryston and Peavey are some of the most reliable brands around. We used all three in my old band, Bryston for the mains, QSC for the monitors and Peavey for the bass bins. Probably 12 years of weekly use with no problems whatsoever. When we sold everything, one of the horn players in my current band bought the Bryston, QSC and the rest of the PA to use up in northern Ontario where he lives. As far as I know, he was using the system until recently when he bought a Bose L1 “stick” to use with his current Trio.

With a 6 year manufacturer warranty I'm sure I can play with these with confidence for years. Probably a huge upgrade from my old JBL's too...

I bought the QSC CP12's today. They came with free carry bags, which is a nice little bonus, although I'm a little worried that the zippers look cheap. Definitely a lot smaller than the old JBL EON. The store gave me a fair deal on the trade in, more than I actually thought I would get in the trade. I'll post pics of the old ones but I have to do it from my phone

Here are the outgoing speakers. You can see these things are very large and klunky, not too mention very dated looking. Although the guys in the store were really surprised at how good they actually sound and they were confident they will be able to move them quickly
