I do pla barre chords on my 12, but it’s nice if you don’t have a song full of them

In my opinion the 12 strings sound better on open chords. I play in too many flat keys to play open, unless I detune

No just thunderous sounds, but the fullness, and the complexity can sound cool. And the octave notes too don't sound as good.

My absolute favourite to play is my Gibson J-185. Kind of an Oddball - kind of a Jumbo. I also have A Taylor 414ce that I admire but it seems to fight me. I may drop the strings a notch and see if that helps. A GS-Mini that was a very surprising little guy and my Yamaki Dread that I've have 45+ years. They all have their place - but the Gibby's the one that makes it to the gig. Attachments:

I like the standard Martin dred shape no cutaway.

I like the standard Martin dred shape no cutaway. Sound is definitely better on a non cutaway- as long as you don't need to play barres too high

I refuse to venture down the acoustic rabbit hole. I'm sure my wallet can't handle it.

I waffled between 'oddball' and 'other'. My fave size is Lowden's F, which is about the same size as a dread but a bit more rounded. I finally landed on 'other' because I don't want to think of it as oddball, just different.
Here's my F35, Adirondack over Ancient Cuban Mahogany. No cutaway but has the body bevel. (and obviously not my photo LOL).
I also checked non-cutaway. Part of the fun of acoustic is reaching over the body to hit those last 3 notes in a song. Dramatic!!!
All my other acoustics are dreads (Martin, Yamaki, and Takamine).

Some half decent mid tiered acoustics that play and sound pretty good. I scared to know how much nicer stuff plays and sounds. Maybe one day though.

If money were no object I would hunt down a Gibson Keb' Mo' signature acoustic. they didn't come with that sound hole pickup though:

Strange...when I pick this Gibson up it feels far smaller and lighter in the hands, but really the difference in weight and size is tiny compared to my other dreads. I had a 00015m for a year, but it wasn`t for me, and it got sold, so I guess the one below is the most comfortable acoustic guitar I own presently.
