I started writing songs back in 1974 when I was playing and singing in "coffee houses" while still in the Army. none of my songs have been published or recorded. however, some years ago a friend of mine liked one of my songs and was going to put the song on his next cd. a lot of things happened to him at the same time and the recording of the cd fell through.

I’ve never written words for a song and I can’t sing at all. I am good at coming up with catchy things on the guitar that words could be put to.

I currently have around 10 songs finished, I think with another 5 in various stages of work. I have been trying to get enough stuff to do a complete album or originals, along with our singer. He has a similar number, so if we do manage to record again, we'll have plenty to choose from. Funny enough, I found an old cassette a few days ago, that was recorded back in 1975 at a concert that some of us did on in the RAF. The concert was actually in the basement of an old German WWII building and attended by roughly 50 German conscripts as well as those on our Sqn. The cassette is a bit deteriorated so a bit iffy at times. I transferred it to an mp3 and found the first two songs I had ever written. I had forgotten all about them, so currently working out the lyrics and chords of them, so I can lay down demos to see if they are worth putting on the list. Finished working out the first one, which is something I wrote when I read about Mattie Silks, who was a prostitute or madam in the late 19th century American West. The second song was called 'War Baby' MattieEighteen Hundred and Sixty Five Mattie left her home Springfield town, Missouri became her life Working in Delmonicos For bread, wine and board Suffering drunkish things they called man Springfield to Abilene Mattie worked her way Troop of girls soiled to the World Youngest madam in the West Could not soil herself Suffering drunkish things they called man Moved on to Denver She married her man Soon to die from a tall oak tree Caught rustling cattle That was not his own Suffering drunkish things they called man Dreams we had, a life gone by Nothing left to see, yeah Surely love and words might have been Cruel life it left her All alone and tired Suffering drunkish things they called man

I've written a few--some I know are just plain bad. Some aren't
I've recorded demos of some of them.
Whether anyone ever hears them or not isn't my concern--writing them si fun, and also is a good way to exercise my brain (& my fingers when I play them)
i have a few that have been developing for many a year.

I can't say I ever really wrote any songs, but back in high school we had a band where the vocalist was handed a DAK catalog and instructed to pick a product and sing the description to chords. So it resulted in some really weird songs like "Beardroid Phone" and "Voices from the Other Side", which was about a short wave radio. I still have the DAK catalogue somewhere in the house.

When I was younger I tried my hand at writing. Later, I realized I'd created something that was very derivative of another well-known song. that gave me the chills...I had visions of writing something and then later being accused of plagiarism. It's so easy to do.....George Harrison could tell you...(My Sweet Lord/He's So Fine)

Too technical and clinical

I try to write songs but it is a struggle. Most of the songs here are originals. kerrybrown1.bandcamp.com/I started recording and posting them because I was bored from COVID. If nothing else recording them has made me a better player because I had to think how all the instruments fir together to make a song.

I have co-written a few songs that I would like to record to the level that home recording is today. Go for it. You can get some good results. I have made a few demos of my stuff for our singer.
I played everything except the drum loops on this one. I use Logic Pro with a Focusrite Clarett 3Pre USB as an interface
